New Renault Austral 2026: Mild Hybrid 150 HP with Eco Badge and Unbeatable Balance
The Spanish-built SUV evolves with a more efficient mild-hybrid engine, refreshed design, and a lineup ready to dominate the compact segment.
The Renault Austral 2026 takes a confident step forward in the highly competitive hybrid SUV segment. Following its recent facelift, the French model gains visual appeal, upgrades its equipment, and strengthens its commitment to efficiency with a brand-new 150 HP Mild Hybrid version, now available with official pricing in Spain. Its mission is clear: to position itself among the most balanced and technologically advanced options, without sacrificing performance — and all with the coveted Eco environmental badge.
New 150 HP Mild Hybrid Engine: More Efficiency, Same Character
The main innovation in the range is the introduction of the 1.3 turbo engine with 150 HP and 270 Nm of torque, co-developed with Mercedes-Benz. This powertrain replaces the previous 160 HP Mild Hybrid unit, offering improved fuel efficiency and smoother performance, while keeping the CVT automatic transmission and 12V mild-hybrid system. Official figures show 0–100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, a top speed of 180 km/h, and an average consumption of 6.4–6.5 l/100 km (WLTP cycle). Naturally, it proudly carries the Eco badge from the Spanish DGT.
Of course, Renault continues to offer the E-Tech Full Hybrid 200 HP version, paired with a Multimode automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. This more advanced hybrid setup achieves an impressive 4.7 l/100 km, remaining one of the most efficient in its class.

The Renault Austral 2026 is available in Evolution, Techno, and Esprit Alpine trims, the latter adding a sportier edge inspired by Alpine and Formula 1. Even the entry-level version includes seven airbags, a rearview camera, dual-zone climate control, a 9-inch openR link display with integrated Google services, and 18-inch alloy wheels, alongside advanced driver-assistance features and Adaptive Vision LED headlights.
Built in Palencia, Spain, the Austral reinforces Renault’s strong industrial presence in Europe. With sharper styling, upgraded materials, and improved connectivity, the new Austral Mild Hybrid 150 targets the heart of the compact SUV market — taking on rivals like the Toyota Corolla Cross, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, and Peugeot 3008 — proving that Renault still knows how to master the art of balancing efficiency, comfort, and driving pleasure.
