New Mitsubishi ASX 2026: More Power with the 120T Engine and Goodbye to the 1.0 Turbo
The urban SUV from Mitsubishi updates its lineup with a more powerful and efficient engine, delivering better performance and a more balanced range for 2026.

The Mitsubishi ASX 2026 arrives with significant updates to stay competitive in the fiercely contested small SUV segment. The Japanese model faces tough rivals such as the Hyundai Kona, Volkswagen T-Roc, Kia Niro, Toyota Yaris Cross, and the brand-new Alfa Romeo Junior, among others. To keep up, Mitsubishi has decided to say goodbye to its basic 1.0 turbo engine with 91 hp and welcome a far more capable and efficient alternative.
New 120T Engine: More Power, Less Fuel Consumption
The Japanese brand replaces the old 1.0-litre turbo engine (91 hp) with a new 1.2-litre turbocharged unit delivering 115 hp and 190 Nm of torque, known as 120T, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. This engine not only offers 24 extra horsepower but also improves throttle response and fuel efficiency, now rated at 5.7 l/100 km under the WLTP cycle.
Performance figures show clear progress: the new ASX 120T accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 180 km/h, compared to 14 seconds and 168 km/h with the old 1.0 engine. Meanwhile, its generous 536-litre boot remains unchanged, confirming the ASX as a practical and family-friendly SUV.
Comprehensive Equipment and a Focus on Technology
The Mitsubishi ASX 2026 will be available in three trim levels: Motion, Kaiteki, and Kaiteki+. Even the entry-level version offers a rich equipment list, including six airbags, a rear-view camera, automatic climate control, keyless entry, a 10.4-inch central touchscreen, and full Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
In terms of safety, the ASX features Full LED headlights, lane-keeping assistance, driver attention monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and a collision mitigation system with pedestrian detection. These elements make it one of the most complete and balanced SUVs in its class.
