New 2025 Nissan Sentra: Sleeker, Smarter, and Ready for an Electrified Future

By  |

The iconic Japanese sedan gets a full redesign, larger dimensions, and a possible hybrid e-POWER version. This is the next chapter of the Nissan Sentra.

A complete redesign to compete in a demanding market

The new 2025 Nissan Sentra has been officially unveiled in China — where it’s sold under the name Sylphy — and marks a comprehensive transformation in design, technology, and efficiency. The front end ditches Nissan’s classic V-motion grille, replaced by a more refined look with slim headlights and integrated daytime running lights. The 2.71-meter wheelbase remains, but with newly designed doors and a more sloped roofline from the C-pillar. At the rear, the Sentra evolves with full-width tail lights featuring a translucent finish — though some markets may receive different styling.

Bigger in size, stronger in presence, more refined overall

The new Sentra has grown slightly, now measuring 4.65 meters long, 1.82 meters wide, and 1.44 meters tall, giving it a more solid appearance and improved interior space. These updated proportions position it as a more mature and competitive player in the compact sedan segment, going head-to-head with rivals like the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. Stylistically, Nissan is going for a modern and urban-friendly look that blends comfort with bold design.

2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine: tradition continues

Under the hood, the Sentra will continue to offer the familiar 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine with direct injection and a CVT transmission. This four-cylinder powerplant delivers 145 hp and 20 kgm of torque, a configuration aimed especially at the North American market, where buyers still favor larger-displacement naturally aspirated engines over smaller turbocharged units. With this move, Nissan sticks to its formula of balancing innovation with mechanical reliability.

Will the e-POWER hybrid version make its debut?

The most exciting update could come from electrification. Like its Chinese counterpart, the Sylphy, the Sentra may soon offer the e-POWER system, a unique hybrid setup where the wheels are driven solely by an electric motor, while the gasoline engine serves only as a generator. This system delivers 100 kW of power and 31 kgm of torque, offering a driving experience very close to that of a full electric vehicle, but without the need to plug in. If confirmed, this would be a major technological step forward for the Sentra lineup worldwide.

A more global, modern, and future-ready Sentra

With this redesign, the Nissan Sentra enters a new era, offering sharper styling, smarter tech, and the potential for electrified powertrains — all of which strengthen its global appeal. In a segment where sedans must adapt to survive, the new Sentra proves there’s still room to evolve intelligently without losing its essence. Nissan has read the market well — and this model shows it.
