Mustang RTR Spec 5: More Power Than a GTD for Less Money

By  |

The new Mustang RTR Spec 5, created by Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s team, redefines what a modern pony car can be. With more horsepower than a Mustang GTD and a lower price tag, this limited-production model is every speed enthusiast’s dream.

RTR Vehicles has launched the Spec 5 2026, a Mustang transformed into a true carbon-fiber monster. It starts with a Mustang GT equipped with the Performance Package and Recaro seats, but things get wild with a wide-body composite kit and exposed carbon details. Its radical design doesn’t just rival the GTD in looks–it also delivers performance that can shock even the most hardcore muscle car purists.

Under the hood lives a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8, producing over 870 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque. That means it outguns the Mustang GTD, which tops out at 815 hp. Buyers can choose between a 10-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission, making the Spec 5 a true playground for drivers of all styles.

Performance tuning is equally impressive. With fully adjustable suspension, 20-inch wheels, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, the Spec 5 is engineered to dominate the track while still thrilling on the street. Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers up front and four-piston units in the rear ensure world-class stopping power.

What really sets this car apart, though, is Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s philosophy: it’s not just about speed–it’s about fun. The electronic drift brake turns the Spec 5 into a street-legal Formula Drift machine, built to shred tires, carve wild angles, and deliver smoke-filled excitement on every corner. In simple terms: it’s a car designed for pure spectacle.

Exclusivity seals the deal. Only 50 units will be produced each year, each offering unique customization options for paint and wheel finishes. With a starting price of $159,999, it’s pricey for a Mustang but still undercuts the GTD and rivals high-performance sports cars like the Corvette. In short, the RTR Spec 5 is a Mustang built for those who want more than just speed–they want an icon of adrenaline and style.
