Mercedes-Benz GLC 2026: PHEV Pricing Strategy Surprises, Zero-Emissions Label… Better Than Eco!
The new Mercedes-Benz GLC, a sales success in the premium segment, introduces a unique pricing strategy that favors the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) versions over the Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) models
The Mercedes-Benz GLC competes in a luxurious market segment, directly challenging rivals such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Lexus NX 2026, and Volvo XC60. The German brand has designed a singular pricing strategy, which will surely win over a large number of customers. Intriguingly, this SUV exhibits a much more attractive price point in the plug-in hybrid versions.
The plug-in hybrids are becoming the smartest option in the range. These models even surpass the mild hybrids closest to them in terms of power. The Zero Emissions label on the PHEVs contrasts sharply with the Eco label on the MHEVs, adding a major benefit.
Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) Versions: Power and Range
The Mercedes-Benz GLC features two PHEV variants. The GLC 300 e 4MATIC 2026 (gasoline PHEV) with EQ hybrid technology, offers 313 hp of power. This model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reaches 218 km/h. Thanks to its 127 km of electric range, it achieves a combined consumption of only 2.1 liters per 100 km.
The GLC 300 de 4MATIC 2026 (diesel PHEV) is also available, delivering a more potent 333 hp. This SUV improves acceleration to 6.4 seconds and achieves a top speed of 217 km/h. It can cover 122 km in electric mode and claims a combined consumption of 1.6 liters. The battery has been slightly updated to 25.28 kWh. It requires 2.75 hours on AC charging (11 kW) and 29 minutes to reach 80% on DC charging (at a maximum of 60 kW).

Mild Hybrid (MHEV) Versions: Performance and ECO Label
The mild hybrids also feature all-wheel drive and the nine-speed automatic gearbox. The gasoline GLC 300 4MATIC model delivers 258 hp. It accelerates in 6.2 seconds, reaches 240 km/h, and records a consumption of 7.1 liters per 100 km.
The diesel mild hybrid GLC 300 d 4MATIC offers 269 hp of power. It completes the 0/100 km/h sprint in 6.3 seconds and achieves a top speed of 243 km/h. Its consumption stands at 5.5 liters per 100 km, under the combined WLTP cycle. In all cases, the engines are 2.0-liter four-cylinder units.
