Mercedes-Benz GLB 2026 vs. Tesla Model Y 2025: 7-Seater Electric SUV Duel
The compact electric SUV segment is undergoing a radical transformation with the arrival of the new Mercedes-Benz GLB. This model positions itself as the most direct rival to the Tesla Model Y updated under the “Juniper” project.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB 2026 stands out for its family versatility and robust aesthetic reaching 4.73 meters in length. Unlike its competitor, the German firm will maintain combustion options with 1.5 mild hybrid engines. Meanwhile, the Tesla Model Y Juniper features a slightly longer body (4.79 meters) and optimized aerodynamics that improve its energy efficiency.
Interior Technology and Cargo Capacity
Inside the cabin, Mercedes bets on digital luxury with the MBUX Superscreen, which can integrate up to three monitors on the dashboard. The rear trunk offers between 480 and 540 liters, complemented by a front compartment or “frunk” of 104 liters. Tesla maintains its minimalist approach with a single 15.4-inch central screen that controls all vehicle functions. Although the Model Y exceeds in maximum cargo volume, its additional third-row seats are generally considered more limited for adults.

Performance and Electrical Architecture
Mercedes’ MMA modular platform introduces an 800-volt architecture. This technology allows recovering 260 km of range in just 10 minutes. The GLB electric range offers power outputs between 272 hp and 354 hp in its 4MATIC version. Tesla provides rear-wheel and all-wheel drive versions with power reaching 618 hp in the Performance trim. While the GLB starts at €55,925 in Spain, the Tesla Model Y maintains a more affordable entry point starting at €39,990.
