Massive Recall Alert: 2024-2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Affected by Critical Rear View Camera Failure
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall notice affecting more than 140,000 Hyundai vehicles. The action is centered on certain Santa Fe models, where an installation error in the rear camera may compromise safety.
Hyundai recalled certain 2024 to 2025 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid vehicles. The issue arises because their rear view camera might not be installed correctly. The recall report states that the supplier incorrectly mounted the camera’s main wiring harness. This caused increased tension and wear on the cable’s shielding line. In addition, it resulted in poor terminal contact when connecting it to the camera. This situation can cause the camera to malfunction or not work at all.
Free Solution and Deadlines
Dealers must replace the rear view camera. Likewise, they must reposition the wiring harness at no cost to the owner. The recall affects more than 143,000 2024 and 2025 Santa Fe vehicles in the US. Notification letters about the recall are scheduled to be mailed on January 19th. A solution to the problem is expected by January 2026.

Additional Powertrain Concerns (Non-Hybrids)
The widespread recall of the rear view camera system is not the only problem with the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe. In fact, non-hybrid models with the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission have presented issues. The transmission has been reported to exhibit confusion, hesitation, and delay in shifting at low speeds. Some owners even reported that the transmission does not engage correctly in the parking position. This causes the vehicle to continue moving, a serious safety concern. Finally, some non-hybrid model owners have also reported the engine stalling at highway speeds.
Complaints about Interior Comfort and Technology
In addition to mechanical problems, users report a series of less critical complaints about the interior and technology. Consumer Reports indicated that the front seats are uncomfortable. This is due to their low position, which results in uncomfortable knee bending. Added to this is a flat, unsupportive design. On the other hand, some owners report persistent problems with the infotainment system. For example, incorrect mobile app synchronization, malfunctioning commands, automatic media playback, and the deactivation of the welcome chime are common faults. Reddit users also pointed out potential factory quality control issues. Some vehicles have aesthetic flaws, such as “orange peel” paint effects.
