Kia EV4 2025: The European-Built Electric Compact Aiming to Dethrone Tesla

By  |

Built in Europe, with over 600 km of range and a premium-quality interior, the new Kia EV4 is set to become the benchmark among all-electric compact cars.

The Kia EV4 has finally arrived, and it comes with a clear mission: to conquer the electric compact segment, one of the most competitive markets in Europe. This fully electric hatchback, available in both five-door and four-door sedan versions, blends design, technology, and efficiency while offering an impressive range of up to 630 kilometres in its Long Range configuration. Built in Europe (Zilina, Slovakia), it reinforces the Korean brand’s commitment to meeting European expectations and competing directly with heavyweights like the Volkswagen ID.3 and Renault Mégane E-Tech.

Sleek design and record-breaking aerodynamics

The Kia EV4 boasts a striking and distinctive design. The five-door version (4.43 metres long) offers a classic, compact look with sporty lines, while the four-door sedan (4.73 metres) stands out for its elegant silhouette and exceptional aerodynamics — achieving a drag coefficient of just 0.23, one of the lowest in its class. Both body styles feature a long, sloping bonnet and sharp vertical headlights, echoing Kia’s EV3 and EV6 design language. At the rear, the sedan’s more refined tail design enhances its premium character without compromising efficiency.

Minimalist interior with impressive space

Inside, the EV4 reveals a spacious, refined, and ultra-modern cabin, crafted with soft-touch materials and eco-friendly recycled plastics. The dashboard follows a clean, minimalist layout with dual 12.3-inch screens—one for the digital cluster and another for infotainment—alongside a 5.3-inch display dedicated to climate control. Thankfully, physical buttons remain for key functions, a choice that will please many drivers. Rear passengers enjoy excellent legroom (over 15 cm of extra space) and no central tunnel, making long trips more comfortable. Cargo capacity is also generous: 435 litres in the five-door and 490 litres in the sedan, both with an electric tailgate.

Efficient powertrain and versatile range options

Built on Kia’s proven E-GMP platform, the EV4 offers two battery sizes—58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh—paired with a 204 hp front-mounted motor. The Long Range version, equipped with the larger battery, delivers up to 630 km of WLTP range, positioning it among the most efficient electric compacts on the market. On the road, the EV4 feels agile, composed, and comfortable, balancing stability and performance thanks to its low centre of gravity and responsive torque delivery.

Prices and trims in Spain

In Spain, the Kia EV4 five-door starts at €38,695 in the Air trim, while the sportier GT-Line Long Range versions exceed €51,000. The four-door sedan starts at €42,735, though prices can drop significantly with government incentives and manufacturer discounts, bringing the entry-level model down to around €26,400. With the EV4, Kia proves that an electric car designed for Europe can be efficient, practical, and full of character—a bold step toward a smarter, more sustainable, and truly exciting future of mobility.
