Honda Racing Corporation brings its motorsport expertise to the off-road world with an extreme version of the Passport, unveiled at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The Honda Passport TrailSport was already one of the most capable SUVs in the Japanese brand’s lineup, but HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) has decided to take things even further. Drawing on its racing know-how, the engineers have developed an ultra-tough prototype, enhanced in looks, performance, and functionality – a machine ready to tackle any terrain without compromise.

A tougher, bolder design built for any challenge

At first glance, it’s impossible to miss the transformation: the new Passport HRC features a matte Thermal Orange paint finish paired with a contrasting black roof, along with redesigned bumpers that improve approach and departure angles. It also sports custom wheels and a full auxiliary lighting system that includes a roof-mounted bar, ditch lights, fog lamps, and camp lights, ensuring maximum visibility and safety in any off-road or nighttime scenario.

Technically, HRC has equipped the SUV with a front winch rated at 3,600 kg, an integrated air compressor, and extended aluminum skid plates that now protect key components such as the driveshaft and rear differential. There are also custom front and rear dampers, a unique exhaust system, a 6 cm lift kit, and larger, wider off-road tires – all aimed at maximizing traction, durability, and control off the beaten path.

A racing-inspired cabin with premium touches

Inside, the Passport HRC blends racing flair with premium comfort, featuring blue Alcantara inserts, HRC badging, and additional mounting panels for accessories. It even includes an extra driver-oriented display showing detailed navigation and orientation data – a clear nod to rally raid technology.

V6 power and pure adventure spirit

Under the hood, it retains the naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 289 hp, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission specifically tuned for this vehicle to deliver the ideal balance between power and control. Although this prototype won’t reach dealerships, it perfectly showcases Honda’s ability to create off-roaders with genuine personality and purpose.

Sadly, Europe won’t see such an extreme TrailSport version, but Honda’s adventurous DNA remains stronger than ever. And in Spain, new Santana off-roaders are on the way – ready to keep the spirit of adventure alive.
