Hennessey Transforms The Ford Expedition Tremor Into An Extreme Off-Road Family SUV

Published

on

Hennessey Performance is best known for building some of the fastest vehicles on the planet, but the Texas-based company has never limited itself to supercars alone. Over the years, Hennessey has also developed a reputation for creating highly capable trucks and SUVs designed for serious off-road adventures.

Its latest project takes Ford’s largest family SUV and gives it an even more rugged personality.

Called the Hennessey VelociRaptor SUV, the new model is based on the Ford Expedition Tremor and focuses on increasing off-road capability while maintaining the practicality of a full-size three-row SUV.

The Hennessey VelociRaptor SUV is based on the Ford Expedition Tremor and adds several upgrades designed for off-road adventures.

Built For Families Who Love The Outdoors

Hennessey describes the VelociRaptor SUV as the ultimate go-anywhere family vehicle.

While the standard Expedition Tremor already offers impressive off-road capability, Hennessey wanted to push the platform even further. The company equipped the SUV with a revised front bumper featuring steel skid plates designed to protect critical components during rough trail use.

Additional exterior upgrades include a compact bull bar, auxiliary driving lights and unique Hennessey branding replacing the standard Expedition lettering across the grille.

The result is a more aggressive and trail-ready appearance without sacrificing the comfort expected from a family SUV.

Suspension And Tire Upgrades Improve Capability

The most significant changes can be found underneath the vehicle.

Hennessey installed a new off-road suspension system and increased ride height by two inches, providing additional ground clearance for challenging terrain.

The SUV also rides on black 20-inch Hennessey Performance wheels wrapped in Nitto Recon Grappler all-terrain tires. These replace the factory General Grabber tires and provide improved traction on dirt, gravel and rocky surfaces.

Together, the upgrades significantly enhance the Expedition’s ability to tackle difficult trails.

The VelociRaptor SUV features a two-inch suspension lift, upgraded off-road tires and revised suspension components.

Power Remains Unchanged

Unlike many Hennessey projects, the VelociRaptor SUV does not receive additional engine modifications.

Power continues to come from Ford’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, which produces 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque in factory form.

While some buyers may have expected a power increase, Hennessey chose to focus its efforts on improving off-road performance rather than straight-line speed.

Given the Expedition Tremor’s already impressive output, the company believes the existing powertrain is more than capable of handling demanding adventures.

Added Performance And Practicality

Beyond the suspension and tire upgrades, Hennessey also fitted the SUV with Brembo front brakes to improve stopping performance.

A power-deployable side step has also been added to make entering and exiting the lifted vehicle easier for passengers.

These upgrades help balance the increased off-road capability with the everyday practicality expected from a family-focused SUV.

Hennessey says the VelociRaptor SUV will be built in extremely limited numbers and sold through authorized Ford dealerships.

Limited Production Adds Exclusivity

Hennessey has confirmed that production of the VelociRaptor SUV will be extremely limited.

Although pricing has not yet been announced, buyers should expect a significant premium over the standard Ford Expedition Tremor, which starts at approximately $84,495.

Each vehicle will be sold through authorized Hennessey Ford dealers and backed by a three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty.

For buyers looking to combine family-friendly practicality with serious off-road capability, the VelociRaptor SUV could become one of the most unique full-size SUVs available in the American market.

Charles Leclerc says a yellow flag and Ferrari’s lack of straight-line speed prevented him from securing a stronger qualifying result at Spa.

Charles Leclerc and Ferrari narrowly missed out on a better qualifying result for the Belgian Grand Prix after a confusing yellow flag disrupted the Monegasque driver’s final flying lap. Although he qualified fifth (moving up to fourth after Lando Norris’ penalty) Leclerc believes the incident cost him at least one position on the grid.

Charles Leclerc believes a yellow flag compromised his final qualifying lap at Spa.

Leclerc Says Ferrari Lost Time at the Worst Moment

Leclerc explained that a yellow flag displayed near the pit entry was highly visible from the racing line, forcing him to hesitate during his final attempt. While he admitted Ferrari still lacked the pace to challenge for pole, he believes the interruption prevented him from overtaking George Russell in the final standings.

The Ferrari driver also pointed to Mercedes’ superior straight-line speed, describing power as the team’s biggest weakness at Spa-Francorchamps.

Ferrari continues to trail Mercedes in straight-line performance.

George Russell Reveals Mercedes Straight-Line Speed Problem at Spa

George Russell revealed Mercedes is still battling a technical issue that is costing significant time on the straights ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix.

George Russell and Mercedes continue to battle a frustrating technical issue that has compromised the team’s straight-line performance since the British Grand Prix. Despite qualifying fourth for the Belgian Grand Prix—promoted to third after Lando Norris’ grid penalty—Russell admitted the problem is costing him valuable lap time at Spa-Francorchamps.

The British driver believes the issue has prevented him from fighting for pole position, even though he was satisfied with his qualifying performance.

George Russell says Mercedes is losing valuable time on the straights because of an unresolved issue.

George Russell Says Mercedes Is Losing Speed on the Straights

Russell revealed that Mercedes has identified an ongoing problem that causes his car to lose speed at full throttle, costing anywhere between two and six tenths of a second per lap on the straights.

Initially, the team suspected the issue was related to the brakes or even Russell’s driving style, but after extensive analysis, Mercedes is now convinced the problem is mechanical rather than driver-related.

The issue has forced the team to focus on recovering top speed instead of improving car setup and tire performance throughout the Belgian Grand Prix weekend.

Mercedes has been investigating the straight-line performance issue since Silverstone.

Mercedes Still Searching for Answers

Although Mercedes has not identified the exact cause, Russell does not believe the power unit is responsible. Instead, he says something is preventing the car from reaching its full potential on the straights, leaving the team searching for answers before the next race.

Russell hopes Mercedes can solve the issue before the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Russell Remains Optimistic Despite the Setback

Despite the ongoing problem, George Russell remains encouraged by the pace shown in the corners and believes he had the speed to challenge for the front row under normal conditions. Mercedes will now continue working to resolve the issue before the Hungarian Grand Prix, where Russell hopes the team can finally unlock the car’s full performance.
