Genesis GV60 Magma: the Luxury Electric SUV That Enters the Supercar League

By  |

Genesis raises the bar for electric performance with the GV60 Magma, a premium SUV that blends luxury, advanced technology, and true race-car-level performance.

The high-performance electric SUV segment continues to expand, with benchmarks such as the Porsche Macan Electric, Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, and the radical Lotus Eletre. Genesis now steps firmly into this arena with the GV60 Magma, an extreme and refined variant aimed directly at the heart of the premium market. It is also the first high-performance model from the new Genesis Magma sub-brand, created to bring uncompromising sportiness into the electric era.

Genesis GV60 Magma: Luxury, Power, and Motorsport DNA

Genesis describes this model as a “luxury grand tourer with the agility of a race car”, a statement clearly reflected in its design. The GV60 Magma features redesigned front and rear bumpers optimized for airflow, reducing front lift and increasing rear downforce, further enhanced by a large bespoke rear wing. The three signature vents in the front bumper and side skirts, a defining Magma design element, improve cooling and aerodynamics while reinforcing its visual identity, complemented by high-gloss trim and dark metal accents.

Inside, the GV60 Magma maintains a premium atmosphere with a distinctly sporty edge. The cabin is extensively trimmed in Chamude suede-like fabric, with contrasting orange and gray stitching for added exclusivity. A bespoke steering wheel with dedicated boost and drive-mode buttons is paired with a custom Magma digital interface, featuring a three-dial instrument cluster that displays key data such as motor and battery temperatures, G-forces, and advanced performance telemetry—clearly inspired by modern motorsport and Formula 1 technology.

Beneath the bodywork, the GV60 Magma rides on the E-GMP platform, shared with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N but taken to a higher performance level. It is equipped with an 84 kWh battery, capable of ultra-fast charging at up to 240 kW, and claims an efficiency figure of 23.2 kWh/100 km, suggesting a real-world range of around 360 km. Power comes from dual electric motors producing a combined 641 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds—figures firmly in supercar territory.

The package is completed by a heavily revised chassis, including an electronic limited-slip differential, recalibrated suspension, and massive 400 mm disc brakes with monoblock front calipers, tuned for 21-inch wheels and bespoke 275-mm-wide Pirelli tires. With Sprint, GT, customizable My mode, a dedicated Drift mode, and a virtual gear-shift system, the Genesis GV60 Magma is not just about numbers—it is designed to deliver genuine driving emotion, positioning itself as one of the most ambitious and engaging electric SUVs on the market today.
