Ford Confirms Production of the New Plug-In Hybrid Ranger in Pacheco: A Historic Milestone for South America

The Blue Oval brand confirms a major investment to begin producing, from 2027, the region’s first electrified pickup truck — marking a decisive step toward a more sustainable future of mobility.

Ford Motor Company has officially announced one of the most significant milestones in its recent history in South America: the production of the new Plug-In Hybrid Ranger at its Pacheco plant in Argentina starting in 2027. This project represents a turning point in the brand’s electrification strategy, transforming the Buenos Aires facility into Ford’s technological hub for the continent.

To make it possible, the company confirmed a new investment of 170 million dollars, adding to the 700 million already executed between 2021 and 2025 to fully modernize the industrial complex. In total, that’s an 870-million-dollar commitment reinforcing Ford’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and industrial development across the region.

Global Commitment to Electrification and Local Talent

The announcement was made during a visit by Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company, who highlighted Argentina’s strategic role in the brand’s South American operations. “We’re thrilled to bring this new technology to South America with local production of the Plug-In Hybrid Ranger. This project reflects our commitment to the region and its people,” said Farley. Meanwhile, Martín Galdeano, President of Ford South America, emphasized that this version will be the most advanced Ranger ever produced in the region, offering an exceptional balance of performance, efficiency, and environmental responsibility — all without compromising the strength, load capacity, and off-road capabilities that define the Ranger name.

Efficiency and Power: The Perfect Combination for Work and Adventure

The upcoming Plug-In Hybrid Ranger will blend the best of both worlds: zero-emission electric driving for urban routes and extended range through its hybrid system — ideal for both professional use and outdoor recreation. It’s a pickup designed to redefine versatility in a segment where innovation has become the driving force of change.

Steady Growth and a Clear Vision for the Future

This announcement comes amid strong growth for Ford’s most iconic pickup. Since the launch of its latest generation, the Ranger has doubled its market share across South America. In Argentina, Ford expects to reach a record production of 76,000 units in 2025 and exceed 80,000 units in 2026, supported by new model variants and the expansion of its electrified range. With this move, Ford not only reinforces its leadership in the pickup segment but also strengthens its position as a pioneer in the transition toward cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable mobility.
