2020 Mazda6 Signature Turns Heads at All RPMs

The 2020 Mazda 6 Signature is not your average family sedan owing to its fun driving experience and value for money. However, its most significant selling point has to be the chiseled body, comfortably laid out the luxurious cabin, and the overall quality of the machine that puts it ahead of others in this price range. While the 2020 Mazda 6 Signature isn’t a significant upgrade to the outgoing one, it does offer a couple of notable updates. 

What is New with the Mazda 6 Signature This Year?

By and large, the changes are modest; the most noteworthy though is the new key fob, along with the trunk lid badge, which is exclusive to the Signature model, i.e., our review unit. Speaking of the Signature model, this year, owners are treated to a real wood trim, leather, and a host of standard features. If anything, the list of luxury features often makes it hard to guess which price bracket the Mazda 6 belongs to in what is a highly competitive segment of the market. 

Transmission Engine and Performance 

The 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine delivers 250 HP, coupled with a highly responsive six-speed transmission that makes driving it an exhilarating experience. Our 0-60 times were a hair under 7 seconds, which is pretty respectable when stacked up against Honda’s Civic and the Competing Corolla. 

Our limited time driving the Mazda 6 was exciting as we could easily take it around bends and curves without it slipping or hearing any road noise. Compared to the outgoing model, acceleration felt smoother, and the grip is excellent, especially on wet roads. That could be down to a better tuned or updated traction control system. Furthermore, the whisper-quiet cabin speaks volumes of how much the company has worked to ensure refinement. 

Luxurious Cabin for a Modern Mid-Sized Sedan 

One of the things we noticed with the Mazda 6 is how luxurious the cabin felt. If we were blindfolded and put inside the car, it would be hard to tell if this was the Mazda 6 or perhaps a pricier competitor. 

The quality of materials is impressive across the board with a mature design and good detailing. Our only complaint if you can call it that is the way in which the interior controls work. But while that will take some getting used to, the luxurious cabin more than makes up for that one misstep. 

Over on the back, despite the sexy shaped Mazda 6, the boot is just as practical as any other boring vehicle. We were easily able to fit six regular-sized carry-on bags, plus the rear seats can be folded up to make extra space if needed. So, there is more than enough room to accommodate the average American family. 

Final Verdict 

At 26 MPG mixed driving, 23 for city and 31 for highway, the 2020 Mazda 6 Signature is just as frugal as it is sexy. Not only does it offer an unexpectedly refined experience for a family sedan, but it is also surprisingly practical for any sized family. All of which makes it hard not to recommend the Mazda 6 Signature 2020 to anyone looking for a family sedan.
