Toyota 2026: a hybrid revolution arrives with the new RAV4, Aygo X Cross and a surprise supercar

The Japanese brand is gearing up for a packed 2026, with a fully renewed line-up and major advancements that reaffirm its leadership in electrification.

The most important year for Toyota in the last decade

2026 will be a key year for Toyota, with the debut of all-new models and updates to some of its most iconic vehicles. The first to arrive will be the Toyota Aygo X Cross 2026, a compact urban crossover that introduces a 116 hp hybrid powertrain, borrowed directly from the Yaris, along with a completely redesigned interior. It’s already available to order from €23,900, with first deliveries expected in the opening weeks of 2026.

The return of the RAV4 and the evolution of the Corolla

Another major highlight will be the new Toyota RAV4 2026, featuring a bolder design, upgraded technology, and new hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines. Although overall power has slightly decreased compared with the previous generation (with versions offering 183, 191, 268 and 304 hp), efficiency and refinement have taken a leap forward. In Italy, it’s already priced from €45,200, and the Spanish launch is expected during the first half of the year. The model could also add an Adventure trim, designed with a stronger off-road focus.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Corolla is also preparing for big changes. It’s likely we’ll see a concept car during 2026, possibly unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show (30 October to 9 November). This prototype will preview the next-generation Corolla, expected to feature hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and potentially all-electric powertrains.

A supercar worthy of the LFA legacy

But the biggest surprise will come at the end of the year. Toyota, through Lexus, is set to unveil a new supercar powered by an electrified V8 engine, destined to become the spiritual successor to the legendary LFA. Its debut is scheduled for December 2026, and although its official name remains unknown, all signs point to a new milestone in the brand’s high-performance division.

A total commitment to technology and driving excitement

With these launches, Toyota strengthens its position as a global leader in hybrid innovation, perfectly blending efficiency, sustainability, and driving pleasure. Without question, 2026 will be one of the most ambitious years in the brand’s history, with a line-up ranging from the most practical urban model to the most extreme supercar.
