The world of automobiles, from its origins to the current hyper-technological hypercars and Formula 1 race cars, has always revolved around functionality, performance, and emotion. But what happens when functionality is taken to the extreme to adapt to modern life? The answer comes directly from the home of the double chevron: the Citroën Elo Concept. For the French brand, the car is not just a means of transport; it is a space adaptable to all facets of life, whether working, enjoying the outdoors, or going on an adventure. This concept car is a laboratory on wheels that, thanks to collaborations with giants like Goodyear and Decathlon, anticipates solutions we will see in the next generation of vehicles, blending the compact proportions of a minivan with unprecedented modularity.

Exterior Design: Functionality Dresses Up as Urbanite

On the outside, the Elo Concept plays with square shapes to maximize interior space while maintaining a contained length of 4.10 meters, ideal for the urban environment. Its lines draw inspiration from Citroën’s most recent models, as seen in the three-level headlights, reminiscent of the successful C3 and C5 Aircross. However, the true innovation lies in the practical details. For instance, the bumpers have the same shape to simplify production, are made of a material similar to polystyrene so they can be easily replaced by the owner, and the large glass surfaces ensure a feeling of light and spaciousness. It even includes side hooks to attach a tent or a hidden compartment next to the charging port containing sports balls for playing!

The smart wheels, the result of the collaboration with Goodyear, deserve a separate mention. They feature a dual tread: the outer compound is perfect for comfort in the city, while the inner part is suited for more off-road use. Furthermore, the aluminum rims include a central LED that illuminates to indicate when tire pressure needs to be adjusted, a detail of active and passive safety that showcases the project’s technological vision. These types of advancements recall how technology filters down from high-level competition, where the pit stop is crucial, to the safety and efficiency of the street vehicle.

The true ace up the sleeve of the Citroën Elo Concept is in the cabin. Its modular interior is a work of engineering designed to adapt to multiple needs. The initial configuration features the driver’s seat in a central position–a nod to visibility and to classics like the DS for its single-spoke steering wheel. Behind, there are three removable seats for use outside the vehicle, and two auxiliary bucket seats can be unfolded on the sides of the driver, allowing for up to six seats. The instrumentation is futuristic, projected onto the lower part of the windshield, while space and versatility are maximized: technical mattresses from Decathlon hidden in the trunk can be used to set up a double bed, and the driver’s seat can be rotated 360° to create a work or lounge area complemented by a tablet or PC holder and a screen that folds down from the roof for projecting movies.

Regarding the mechanics, Citroën confirms that the Elo Concept is based on an exclusively electric platform, likely an adaptation of the STLA Small, with the battery integrated into the structure. Although details are scarce, it is known that the motor is the same 136 hp unit that powers the ë-C4 and is located at the rear. This electric and modular approach is key to maximizing space and functionality, anticipating a future where mobility will not only be sustainable but also totally customizable. The Citroën Elo Concept proves that the car of tomorrow must be, above all, a chameleonic life companion, capable of switching from family car to camper to mobile office in a matter of minutes.
