Renault 5 E-Tech Electric: the record-breaking bestseller with 100,000 units in just 15 months
The iconic French supermini confirms its success in the electric era, leading the European market with a more complete range and new features starting in 2026.

The electric model proving that the market does respond
The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric continues accumulating milestones at a time when many question the future of electric mobility. The Ampere ElectriCity plant in Douai has reached 100,000 units produced in only 15 months, a figure that positions this model as the undisputed benchmark in the European B-segment EV market. With three motors (95, 120 and 150 hp) and two batteries (40 and 52 kWh), the line-up covers everything from basic urban use to a more performance-oriented and versatile profile.
An industrial success with six electric models on the same line
Unit number 100,000, a Techno trim with the larger battery and the 150 hp motor, symbolizes the industrial pace achieved by the French factory. The assembly line is shared with five additional electric models: Mégane E-Tech, Scenic E-Tech, Alpine A290, Nissan Micra, and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Within the ElectriCity industrial ecosystem, two-thirds of suppliers are located within 300 km, and the system integrates Maubeuge (Renault 4 E-Tech Electric) and Ruitz (transmissions and batteries), enabling a highly efficient supply chain.
European leader: France, the UK, the Netherlands and Spain confirm it
Since its launch, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric has clearly dominated the electric supermini segment. It is number one in sales in France, led the UK market in October, and also tops registrations in the Netherlands and Spain. The line-up maintains its structure, with five trim levels and prices starting at 23,821 euros, while expanding its technology offering for 2026 to reinforce its leadership.
New features from January 2026 to improve efficiency and safety
At the end of January, several trims will add the long-awaited One-Pedal Driving, enabled by a fourth level of energy recuperation that allows the car to stop without using the brake pedal. The new driver attention monitoring system, controlled by a camera on the left A-pillar, will also debut. Users will additionally be able to subscribe to a data package of 2 GB per month for three years, suitable for onboard apps, about 40 hours of music streaming, or around three hours of video.
More customization with the same class-leading range
The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric will introduce new styling options such as the “PoweR5” decals for the rear wings, reinforcing its youthful and sporty image. In terms of efficiency, it maintains its maximum range of 412 km, keeping it at the top of its segment. With these upgrades, Renault consolidates the electric R5 as one of the most strategic products in its new electrified range.
