Porsche Reinvents a 20-Year-Old Carrera GT: Now with Literally Zero Miles!
An iconic Porsche supercar returns to factory condition, combining history, luxury, and exclusive personalization.
Porsche has taken customization to an unprecedented level. The German brand has literally reset a 20-year-old Carrera GT to zero kilometers. Unlike its original state in 2005, this vehicle now combines factory-perfect mechanics with a completely renewed aesthetic, tailored to the owner’s desires. Porsche spokesperson Christopher Golombek confirmed that this “rebirth” is officially documented and is part of the brand’s Re-Commission offering, which allows clients to return their car to factory condition as if it were new.

Complete Transformation: From Engine to Exterior Design
Porsche’s initiative, known as Factory Re-Commission, involves fully disassembling the vehicle and restoring its technical components to their original 2005 condition. But this isn’t just a simple restoration. In this Carrera GT, owner Victor Gómez requested to change the original silver color to a racing livery inspired by the 1970 Le Mans-winning Porsche 917, featuring red and white details, the number 23, and matte black accents on the body, wheels, and engine grilles. This supercar perfectly blends nostalgia, racing aesthetics, and exclusivity.
The interior received the same level of attention. Porsche used red Alcantara across the dashboard, steering wheel, door panels, and center console, extending it even to the front trunk, which includes a matching luggage set. Some surfaces feature textiles from the 918 Spyder, Carrera GT’s successor, while the seat shells and instrument panels are made of matte carbon fiber, creating an elegant contrast with the exterior’s red-and-white theme.
With only 1,270 units produced between 2003 and 2006, the Carrera GT is already an exclusive supercar. At launch, Porsche charged €452,690 in Germany and $440,000 in the United States. The cost of Gómez’s Re-Commission project has not been disclosed, but it is undoubtedly a substantial investment to achieve mechanical and aesthetic perfection in this iconic V10.
Today, this Carrera GT is not just a tribute to Porsche’s past but also a masterpiece of personalization: a vehicle with zero miles on the odometer, designed to be driven and enjoyed, merging history, technology, and the passion for high-performance cars and Formula 1. Gómez sums up his excitement: “Now I own a Carrera GT in new condition, with zero kilometers, and the exterior and interior according to my personal ideas.”
