New Toyota Aygo X Cross 2026: the hybrid city car that redefines its segment with more power, ECO label and GR SPORT version
The 2026 Toyota Aygo X Cross arrives with a full redesign, a 116 hp hybrid engine and the much-anticipated GR SPORT trim. Bigger, smarter and more efficient than ever.
The 2026 Toyota Aygo X Cross debuts a restyling that completely transforms its strategy in the fiercely competitive hybrid city-car segment. The design has been thoroughly refreshed — with a new bonnet, headlights, bumpers, grille, and updated alloy-wheel range — while the interior gains a redesigned instrument cluster, improved controls and upgraded connectivity.
But the real revolution lies under the bonnet: Toyota has dropped the petrol-only engine in favour of a far more powerful and efficient 116 hp hybrid unit, now proudly wearing the ECO environmental label.
New hybrid engine and GR SPORT trim: more performance, less fuel
With its shift to electrification, the Aygo X Cross Hybrid grows by 7 centimetres (to 3.77 metres long) to accommodate the hybrid system, which is paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission. Despite the extra length, it maintains its 231-litre boot capacity, making it perfectly suited to daily urban driving.
On paper, its performance is impressive: 0–100 km/h in just 9.2 seconds, top speed 172 km/h and consumption between 3.8 and 3.9 litres/100 km, depending on trim. All this while delivering the typical refinement and smoothness of Toyota’s hybrid technology.
The range comprises four trims — Play, Like, Chic and GR SPORT — the latter with a distinct sporty setup, exclusive styling details and firmer suspension tuning. Even the base version comes very well equipped, featuring six airbags, automatic climate control, a 9-inch touchscreen, 17-inch alloy wheels, 7-inch digital instrumentation, power mirrors and full Android Auto / Apple CarPlay compatibility.

When it comes to safety, Toyota has gone all-in. The Aygo X Cross 2026 includes as standard lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic high-beam, rear-view camera, driver-fatigue detector, traffic-sign recognition and the advanced pre-collision safety system. These features place it at the top of its class, directly challenging rivals such as the Fiat 500 Hybrid, Hyundai i10 and Kia Picanto 2026.
