Mercedes VLE: The Electric Star Revolution Fusing Limousine Luxury with MPV Practicality
As the first model built on the innovative modular VAN.EA platform, this vehicle promises to transform the minivan segment with avant-garde design and unprecedented technological features.
Mercedes-Benz describes the VLE as the world’s first “luxury urban SUV.” However, it is essentially an ultra-high-end electric minivan. With this release, the German automaker intends to compete directly with rivals like Lexus, Volvo, and Zeekr. Consequently, Mercedes combines MPV versatility with the ride quality of its most exclusive sedans.
Cutting-Edge Technology and the VAN.EA Platform
The VLE debuts the VAN.EA modular platform, designed exclusively for electric vehicles. Thanks to this architecture, the van will offer single or dual-motor configurations. Therefore, power outputs will range from 268 hp in entry versions to 470 hp in top-tier models.
In addition, the vehicle will house batteries ranging from 90 kWh to 120 kWh. These units support 350 kW charging inputs via an 800-volt system. As a result, drivers will experience minimal downtime during long journeys.
A Flexible and Digital Luxury Interior
The VLE’s cabin ensures a premium experience for all passengers. First, it features the MBUX Hyperscreen, a digital dashboard that spans the entire cockpit. Moreover, this system runs the latest version of the MB.OS operating system.

Regarding capacity, the interior offers flexible seating for up to eight people. Additionally, Mercedes will later launch an even more luxurious variant called the VLS. This version will include lounge-style seats and a 4K rear entertainment screen, which is perfect for high-level chauffeur services.
Innovative Aesthetics and Aerodynamics
The official teaser reveals a generously sized grille, even larger than the one on the new GLC EQ. Meanwhile, star-shaped daytime running lights flank the front end. According to recent tests, the production model will keep the sculpted silhouette of the Vision V. Thus, the VLE avoids the traditional boxy look to offer a much more elegant and aerodynamic profile.
