McLaren Confirms a Model with More Than Two Seats: A New Chapter for the Brand?
The British supercar manufacturer confirms plans for a more spacious vehicle, expanding its lineup beyond the iconic two-seaters.

McLaren Looks Beyond Two-Seaters
Although McLaren remains famous for its Artura and W1 supercars, the company has just confirmed that it is working on something beyond the traditional two-door sports car. Newly appointed CEO Nick Collins revealed that the brand will explore adjacent segments and introduce a model with “more than two seats”, opening the door to new vehicle types, potentially including an SUV or a luxury grand tourer.
A Product Roadmap Until 2030
Collins confirmed that McLaren already has a product plan in place through 2030, with preliminary designs for each upcoming model. The brand will leverage its collaboration with Nio, the Chinese manufacturer in which McLaren’s new owner CYVN Holdings has strong ties. This partnership will allow McLaren to integrate Nio components into future cars, speeding up production without compromising performance.
Strategic Collaborations and Industrial Efficiency
McLaren’s goal is not just expansion, but also optimized production processes. As Collins explained, “It’s not about a faster car, but a car built in less time,” highlighting that the Nio collaboration will enable more efficient manufacturing while allowing the brand to focus on technological innovation and quality. This could mark a strategic shift in the philosophy of the historic British firm.
An SUV or a Luxury GT?
Although specific details are still under wraps, McLaren has hinted multiple times that an electric SUV could be part of its long-term plans. Collins stated that a McLaren EV remains on the table, though not in the immediate future, suggesting that the brand aims to expand its customer base without abandoning its supercar DNA.
Looking to the Future
Over the next five years, enthusiasts and the market will have to wait to see McLaren’s full lineup. What is clear is that the British manufacturer is ready to push boundaries, explore new segments, and extend its legacy beyond two-seaters, combining luxury, performance, and advanced technology in its upcoming models.
