Ford Follows Hyundai: Selling Dealer Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles on Amazon

Ford has announced the collaboration with Amazon to allow its dealers to offer certified pre-owned vehicles directly on the digital platform.

ord follows the example of other automakers. The company now allows its dealers to sell CPO vehicles through Amazon. Hyundai announced a similar initiative two years ago. Hyundai’s first listings appeared on the retailer’s website last December. However, dealers maintain full control over service and selling price.

Customers can browse the listings. Furthermore, they have the option to finance and purchase the vehicles through the platform. Pickup is scheduled directly at the dealership. Buyers will review available cars within a 75-mile radius of participating dealerships. In fact, listings include itemized pricing and a report on the vehicle’s condition.

Three Types of Ford Blue Advantage Certification

Certified vehicles must pass an inspection for sale. Ford offers three certification types: Gold, EV, and Blue. Gold certification is for cars up to six years old and under 80,000 miles. These receive a 172-point inspection. Likewise, they include a 12-month or 12,000-mile limited warranty. EV certification requires a 127-point inspection. This matches the age, mileage, and coverage requirements of the Gold certification.

Blue certification applies to Ford vehicles and models from other brands. These cars must be under 10 years old and 150,000 miles. They pass a 139-point inspection. On the other hand, it comes with a 90-day or 4,000-mile limited warranty. This coverage includes the electrical system, battery, transmission, and engine. Roadside assistance is also included with every CPO vehicle.

Ford dealerships in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas are the first to offer CPO vehicles. The market will expand to additional areas soon. Every CPO sold includes a 14-day or 1,000-mile money-back guarantee. Dealers can offer their own options. For example, they can include extended service plans. Listings display a variety of vehicles from other brands.
