First Photos of the 2026 Nissan Ariya: The Electric SUV That Redefines Its Style

By  |

The refreshed Nissan Ariya debuts a new front design, Google multimedia system, and V2L technology; it will be showcased at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show with a more modern and tech-focused look.

The 2026 Nissan Ariya is ready for its mid-cycle facelift, aiming to align its design more closely with the new LEAF and remain competitive in the rapidly evolving EV market. Originally launched in 2022, the updated SUV incorporates technical and mechanical improvements alongside a sleeker exterior that strengthens its presence in the premium electric segment.

Redesigned Front and New Lines

The most striking change is at the front, where the large black grille of the current model has been replaced by a slimmer, more streamlined trim connecting the horizontal headlights, which feature the signature three-diagonal-strip lighting reminiscent of the “fang” design seen on some Peugeot models. As typical with a facelift, the wheels also receive a new design. While rear photos have not been released yet, a remodeled bumper and redesigned taillights are expected.

More Technology Inside

Inside, the updates focus on technology rather than design. The Ariya 2026 will feature a new Android Automotive multimedia system from Google, likely inspired by the one used by Renault. Additionally, it introduces Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the SUV’s battery to power external devices, from electric scooters to small appliances, enhancing the vehicle’s versatility.

Suspension and Driving Experience

The facelift also includes suspension adjustments aimed at improving dynamic performance without compromising ride comfort, a balance Nissan has prioritized since the first Ariya generation. The combination of aesthetic, technological, and performance enhancements positions the SUV as one of the most appealing and practical electric models on the market.

Launch and Expectations

The 2026 Nissan Ariya will be officially unveiled at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show (October 30 – November 9) and will go on sale in Japan early next year. European release dates are still unconfirmed, but this facelift is expected to attract more attention than its predecessor thanks to its refreshed design and advanced features that improve both practicality and comfort.
