Bentley Teases Lightweight RWD Continental GT Supersports Revival
The iconic Bentley Supersports name could return in a more agile, rear-wheel-drive Continental GT, leaving hybrid systems behind.
Bentley is hinting at a new performance-focused Continental GT, believed to be the revival of the legendary Supersports model. Early teaser images show a sharper rear bumper, angular vents behind the rear wheels, and a rear wing mounted to the decklid – all signs pointing toward a high-powered, track-ready grand tourer. Reports suggest the model may abandon hybrid powertrains in favor of a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive layout.
Supersports Heritage Meets Modern Performance
The Continental GT is no stranger to speed. The fourth-generation Speed trim, launched in 2025, produces 771 hp from a hybrid twin-turbo V8 and electric motor setup. Bentley has also offered a slightly detuned 671-hp hybrid base model. Now, the British marque appears ready to push boundaries once again, with the Supersports nameplate promising a return to raw performance. Bentley highlights that the Supersports name first debuted in 1925 on a racing 3 Litre, making this revival a celebration of the brand’s performance heritage.
The teaser’s rear-end details are striking, including a pronounced diffuser, quad exhaust tips, and a more angular design. Autocar reports that the new model could forgo the hybrid motor entirely, keeping a V8 with over 600 hp. This change would not only increase rear-wheel-drive dynamics but also reduce weight significantly compared to the hybrid all-wheel-drive variants. Carbon-fiber panels and the removal of rear seats may further enhance performance.

Bentley has yet to confirm the Supersports’ full specs, but the company notes it will be a rare, performance-focused model “raring to perform.” Fans can likely expect the car to be unveiled before the end of the year, marking the first Supersports since 2018 when the W12 engine still ruled the range.
With a lightweight chassis, rear-wheel-drive focus, and enhanced V8 power, the new Continental GT Supersports could redefine Bentley’s grand touring philosophy, blending luxury with track-capable performance in a way rarely seen from the British marque.
