Alpine A110 Successor May Keep Gas Engine and Add Hybrid Version
Alpine is preparing the next generation of the iconic A110 with a possible hybrid engine, maintaining the sporty essence that made it legendary.

Alpine A110 2027: Gas, Hybrid, or Electric?
The successor to the Alpine A110, initially planned as a 100% electric model, may feature a hybrid version following the slowdown in the electric sports car market. Philippe Krief, Alpine’s CEO, has indicated that the next generation could offer both an electric variant and a partially electrified version, ensuring the brand does not abandon combustion engines in its pure sports cars.
Design and Configurations for Every Driver
According to Krief, the new A110 will arrive in early 2027 and will be available as a two-seater coupe, convertible, and even a 2+2 with rear seats. “The design of the new model will make the current one look old,” he stated, promising a refreshed and aggressive look that continues Alpine’s identity, combining lightweight construction, sportiness, and modernity.
High Performance in the Hybrid and Electric Era
The electric version could feature dual motors on the rear wheels with rear-wheel drive, exceeding the 470 HP of the current A390. Alpine aims for a curb weight below 1,000 kg, a huge challenge for an electric car, and fully replaceable battery modules to prevent degradation and maintain the driving experience over time.
Direct Competition with Porsche
The new A110, both electric and hybrid, will compete with the upcoming Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman, continuing the tradition of French and German sports car rivalries. Alpine intends to offer a car that combines performance, efficiency, and lightweight construction, keeping the spirit of pure sports cars alive even in the transition to electrification.
Anticipation Around the Hybrid Version
While Alpine is expected to offer a high-performance hybrid drivetrain, exact details such as power output and system development are yet to be confirmed. The brand could take inspiration from hybrid engines like the Renault 1.2 turbo with 200 combined HP, but the final figure will likely far exceed this, ensuring the new A110 retains its sporty character.
