Subaru Leads Four Categories in the 2026 ACSI Automobile Study
Subaru earned top marks in four major categories of the 2026 ACSI Automobile Study, including vehicle safety, overall quality, service quality and resale value.
Subaru has earned the top ranking in four major areas of the 2026 ACSI Automobile Study, according to the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index report. The automaker was recognized for vehicle safety, overall quality, service quality and resale value.
The results are based on customer experiences with their own vehicles. Subaru received the No. 1 ranking for vehicle safety for the seventh consecutive year, while also reaching the top position for three additional categories.
For the Japanese automaker, the results highlight customer perceptions across both vehicle ownership and service.
Subaru Leads the Safety Category Again
Vehicle safety remains the strongest area for Subaru in the latest survey. The brand was ranked No. 1 in the category for the seventh straight year.
That consistency is particularly notable because the ACSI study measures customer experiences rather than relying solely on technical specifications or manufacturer claims.

Subaru was ranked No. 1 for vehicle safety in the 2026 ACSI Automobile Study for the seventh consecutive year.
The recognition adds to Subaru’s long-running emphasis on safety across its lineup. The company says the latest result reflects its continued focus on protecting customers.
Subaru Also Tops Overall Quality
The Subaru ACSI 2026 results extend beyond safety. The automaker also ranked No. 1 for overall quality in the study’s mass-market vehicle segment.
That category looks at the broader ownership experience, giving Subaru another major recognition based on feedback from vehicle owners.

Subaru also earned the No. 1 ranking for overall quality in the 2026 ACSI Automobile Study.
Service quality was another area in which Subaru reached the top position.
For owners, the dealership and service experience can be an important part of overall satisfaction. Subaru’s ranking indicates that customers surveyed for the study rated the brand highly in this category as well.
Resale Value Gives Subaru Another No. 1 Ranking
The fourth category in which Subaru ranked first was resale value.
That recognition adds an ownership-focused dimension to the results. While vehicle quality and safety relate directly to the product, resale value is tied to the vehicle’s value over time.

Subaru was also ranked No. 1 for resale value in the 2026 ACSI Automobile Study.
Together, the four category-leading results give Subaru a broad set of customer-focused recognitions in the latest study.
How the ACSI Automobile Study Works
The American Customer Satisfaction Index was developed in 1994 at the University of Michigan and measures customer satisfaction across multiple industries in the United States.
The 2026 automobile study is based on 6,699 completed surveys. Customers were selected at random and contacted by email between July 2025 and June 2026.
The ACSI tracks roughly 400 companies across about 40 consumer industries and 10 economic sectors, making it one of the largest customer-satisfaction benchmarking efforts in the country.
Subaru’s Customer Satisfaction Results
The Subaru ACSI 2026 results give the automaker four No. 1 category rankings in the latest mass-market automobile study.
The brand retained its long-running position in vehicle safety while also reaching the top spot for overall quality, service quality and resale value.
Importantly, the rankings are based on customer experiences reported through the ACSI survey rather than simply manufacturer-provided data.
For Subaru, the results provide another indication of how its owners rate the vehicles and services they use. The combination of safety, quality, service and resale value makes the 2026 study a significant recognition across several aspects of ownership.
