2027 Subaru Forester: The New Hybrid Wilderness Arrives
The 2027 Subaru Forester keeps its prices steady while adding a new Wilderness Hybrid with 194 hp, 9.3 inches of ground clearance and all-wheel drive.
At the same time, Subaru keeps pricing unchanged for most versions. The standard Forester starts at $29,995 MSRP. The Forester Hybrid starts at $34,730 MSRP. Both figures match the outgoing model year.
The new Wilderness Hybrid combines off-road equipment with greater fuel efficiency. It also keeps the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system that defines the Forester range.
The updated lineup will arrive at retailers nationwide later this fall. The Forester and Forester Hybrid will continue to be assembled in Indiana and Japan.

The 2027 Subaru Forester keeps a strong equipment package across the range. Every version has at least 8.7 inches of ground clearance. Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and EyeSight driver-assistance technology are also standard.
Technology also plays an important role. Most versions receive an 11.6-inch multimedia touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available as standard features on most models.
The Forester Wilderness and every hybrid version go a step further. They receive a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster as standard.
The entry-level Forester starts at $29,995. It includes 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control and raised ladder-type roof rails.
The Premium version starts at $31,995. It adds features such as heated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, X-MODE and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Hybrid power brings more choice to the lineup
The hybrid range expands the possibilities for the 2027 Subaru Forester. The Premium Hybrid starts at $34,730. It combines the hybrid powertrain with an 12.3-inch digital cluster, 18-inch wheels and X-MODE Dual-Mode.
The Sport Hybrid starts at $37,930. It adds 19-inch wheels, black exterior details and bronze stitching inside the cabin. A Harman Kardon audio system is also included.
Meanwhile, the Limited Hybrid starts at $38,995. The range-topping Touring Hybrid reaches $41,545 and adds ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a 360-degree Surround View Monitor.
The hybrid versions use a 2.5-liter Atkinson/Miller-cycle Subaru BOXER engine. Electric motors and a high-capacity lithium-ion battery complete the system. Combined output reaches 194 horsepower.

The hybrid system does not mean Subaru is abandoning capability. The Forester still uses a Lineartronic CVT across the lineup. It also keeps the brand’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
The biggest news, however, is the arrival of the Wilderness Hybrid.
This version starts at $40,495 MSRP. It combines the Wilderness package with Subaru’s next-generation series-parallel hybrid powertrain.
The result is a Forester designed for drivers who want both efficiency and additional capability.
The Wilderness Hybrid raises the capability level
The 2027 Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid has 9.3 inches of ground clearance. It also uses all-terrain tires and enhanced underbody protection. These features give the hybrid version a stronger focus on rough terrain.
X-MODE Dual-Mode is also included. The system adds settings for different driving conditions. The Wilderness Hybrid therefore keeps the equipment expected from a Wilderness model.
The cabin receives several upgrades too. Standard equipment includes StarTex upholstery, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a Harman Kardon audio system. A power rear gate and heated steering wheel are also included.
The gas-powered Wilderness remains available as well. It starts at $39,495. Its equipment includes a raised suspension, 17-inch Wilderness wheels, GEOLANDAR all-terrain tires and enhanced underbody protection.
It also has a 3,500-pound towing capacity. A full-size spare wheel, transmission cooler and revised final-drive ratio are part of the package.

The Forester Wilderness Hybrid is the key addition for 2027. It brings the hybrid powertrain into Subaru’s most rugged Forester configuration for the first time.
The rest of the range also receives a clear equipment strategy. Subaru continues to offer gasoline and hybrid versions across different trim levels. This gives buyers more ways to configure the SUV.
The 2027 range starts with the $29,995 Forester. At the other end, the Touring Hybrid costs $41,545. The Wilderness Hybrid sits at $40,495.
Subaru also expands the exterior color selection. Available finishes include Autumn Green Metallic, Crystal White Pearl, Crystal Black Silica, Dark Mahogany Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic and several other options. Geyser Blue is available for the Wilderness versions.
Overall, the 2027 Subaru Forester evolves without radically changing its formula. Pricing remains largely stable, while the hybrid range gains an important new member.
The arrival of the Forester Wilderness Hybrid is the biggest change. With 194 horsepower, 9.3 inches of ground clearance, all-wheel drive and all-terrain equipment, it brings together two previously separate sides of the Forester lineup.
For 2027, Subaru is therefore expanding the Forester’s technology and powertrain choices while maintaining its focus on capability, safety and value.
