2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD – It Just Keeps Getting Better

By  |

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD is yet another bold statement by the car manufacturer. Over the years, Hyundai has made it clear that they don’t want to play it safe, evident from their radically designed vehicles. Some are misses, but for the most part, in our opinion, Tucson has always hit the mark.

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD isn’t just the latest offering; it is also the best that Hyundai offers. So, how good is it this year?

Proof That Crossovers Are Cooler Than Ever

We review many vehicles, and most of them happen to be crossovers; after all, they are the most popular vehicles in America. However, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD is a crossover that does not play it safe. Sure, the design decisions taken by the company are going to be a point of contention for many people, but for the most part, you have to appreciate the fact that the company is willing to risk it for the “cool” factor.

The wing-shaped design of the front grille, along with angular inserts, finished with dark chrome, with LED running lights and a cool-looking turn signal, are part of a face that’s hard to forget. The larger high beam headlights are housed in the large pods in the lower half. Yes, the solution may not be for everyone, but most people will find that this design is equally utilitarian, especially when driving at night.

Plush Interior

Swing open the door, and the same radically different interior does not greet you, but it still stands out. The waterfall dashboard design, coupled with razor-thin vents, almost wrap themselves around the dashboard and the door cards. As expected, the infotainment system and climate control are also housed in the center panel. While most trims have analog gauges with a small 4.2-inch display, our Limited trim came with a bright 10.3-inch screen, digital instrument cluster, and push-button gear selection.

The Limited trim also comes with leather seats and soft-touch door cards. The two-tone light grey and black color scheme look terrific. However, in our opinion, the coolest detail has to be the fabric inserts around the door panels and the dash.

Driving Experience

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD isn’t a speed demon, but it is smooth, gears transition without a fuss and, the engine is downright silent. Hearing the engine from inside the cabin is nearly impossible, even at high revs. Tight curves may require slowing down a bit, but for the most part, the turning radius has dramatically improved over previous models.

To us, the smooth and comfortable driving experience on both the highway and regular streets was further accentuated by the cabin’s excellent soundproofing.

Final Verdict

Sure, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD isn’t everyone’s cup of coffee. However, it is well designed, comfortable, powerful, spacious, and affordable. While the tech can be a mixed bag, the fact is that you can’t find better value for what the Tucson Limited costs, making it hard not to recommend.
