Tired of 911 Restomods? Aerfal Revives the Legendary Porsche 904

The new Spanish firm takes a different approach to restomods, bringing the iconic 904 Carrera GTS back to life.

If you are a fan of Porsche restomods, you are probably used to seeing countless customized 911s: Singer, Tuthill, Canepa, or Welt Begriff appear at every major car show. However, Aerfal Automotive aims to break this trend and resurrect the historic 904 Carrera GTS, a 1960s sports car that is almost impossible to acquire due to its rarity and price.

The 914 as a 904 Base

Instead of spending over a million euros on an original 904 chassis, Aerfal has chosen to use a Porsche 914 as the foundation. According to founder Daniel Robledo, the chassis will be cut and reinforced through a study conducted by Multimatic, ensuring the preservation of the original chassis number while maintaining the essence of the 904. The renders already show a result that respects the classic model’s proportions.

High-Performance Engine and Dynamics

For the drivetrain, Aerfal is developing a custom eight-cylinder boxer engine with Cosworth, while the car’s dynamics are refined in collaboration with Tuthill, a renowned Porsche specialist. Additionally, the project incorporates components from Brembo, Michelin, and BBS, ensuring top-level performance and reliability.

Luxury Interior and Exclusive Details

The cabin promises premium finishes, including titanium elements, a Momo steering wheel, vegetable leather, and surfaces treated with beeswax. Aerfal also plans to collaborate with a prestigious watchmaker to integrate instrument dials and a matching chronograph in each car, delivering an analog and sophisticated experience faithful to the spirit of the original 904.

A Breath of Fresh Air in the Restomod Scene

Although the project is still in its early stages and only renders have been released, Aerfal already has enough parts to start production and accept orders. This 904 restomod is set to stand out among a sea of 911s, bringing creativity and freshness to the increasingly crowded Porsche customization landscape.
