SEAT Ibiza 2026: The Unexpected Showdown That Surprises When Comparing the New Model With Its Predecessor
The new Ibiza is being sold alongside its predecessor, and the comparison reveals a difference few buyers saw coming.

The launch of the SEAT Ibiza 2026 has created an unusual situation: the new model is available at the same time as the previous-generation Ibiza, setting up a direct showdown rarely seen in the Spanish market. To clear things up, we analysed the 1.0 TSI 115 hp version, the most balanced and sensible engine in the range–ideal for city drivers as well as those looking for an efficient compact with a hint of the sporty DNA SEAT inherited from its golden years supporting drivers with a Formula 1–inspired spirit.
Direct comparison: price, performance and efficiency

The Ibiza 2026 1.0 TSI Style starts at €19,120, pairing the three-cylinder engine with a six-speed manual gearbox. It claims 5.2 l/100 km, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, and reaches 200 km/h. It also takes a notable step forward in design and technology: 16-inch alloy wheels, Full LED headlights, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 8.25-inch central display, wireless Full Link connectivity, Aurora upholstery, and a sports leather steering wheel in line with SEAT’s latest racing-inspired products.
In terms of safety, the updated model includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, and hill-start assist. The boot capacity remains at 355 litres, identical to its predecessor. Altogether, it’s a solid and well-balanced proposal that, given its price, positions itself very aggressively within the segment.
Meanwhile, the Ibiza 2025 TSI 115 hp Style XL climbs to €19,670, meaning it’s €550 more expensive despite being the outgoing model. Its technical data is almost identical: 5.2 l/100 km, 198 km/h, and a slightly quicker 0–100 km/h in 9.7 seconds. However, its biggest advantage lies in equipment, as it includes the Comfort Pack with dual-zone climate control, heated and electrically folding mirrors, rain and light sensors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rear electric windows, plus a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and 15-inch alloy wheels.
In the end, the choice isn’t easy: the Ibiza 2026 is cheaper, more modern and offers better lighting, while the Ibiza 2025 provides superior equipment at a slightly higher price. Whichever you choose, both models remain highly competitive alternatives to rivals such as the Renault Clio 2026, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Polo, Dacia Sandero, or the fast-rising MG3, all of them heavyweights in the segment.
