New Dacia Bigster 2026: the hybrid 4×4 that threatens the Toyota RAV4 and shakes up the European market

By  |

The Romanian brand’s most disruptive SUV arrives to rewrite the rules: all-wheel drive, LPG capability, Eco label and a price that leaves its rivals without an answer.

A SUV designed to break the segment

The new Dacia Bigster 2026 lands with the same impact as a top Formula 1 team unveiling a revolutionary car. Measuring 4.57 metres long, it targets established benchmarks such as the Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage and Peugeot 3008. But it does so from a completely different angle: a blend of hybrid technology, low pricing and true 4×4 capability that allows it to challenge both mainstream and premium brands.

The powertrain that changes everything

Under the bonnet, the Bigster uses the familiar 1.2 mild-hybrid bifuel 48V engine with 140 hp, capable of running on petrol and LPG, but the real masterstroke is the 14 hp electric motor fitted to the rear axle. This configuration creates a unique variant: the hybrid-G 150 4×4, delivering 154 hp, boasting the Eco label and paired with a dual-clutch EDC automatic gearbox. It’s a system that–much like modern F1 power units–prioritises efficiency, responsiveness and intelligent energy management.

Low consumption, huge range and equipment that takes a leap forward

Thanks to a 0.84 kWh battery, the Bigster 2026 can drive up to 60% of the time in electric mode, achieving a fuel consumption of 5.8 l/100 km (7.1 l/100 km on LPG). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds, reaches 180 km/h, and delivers more than 1,500 km of total range. Its Expression and Extreme trims significantly raise perceived quality, offering features such as dual-zone climate control, digital displays up to 10 inches, wireless charging, electric panoramic roof, connected navigation and a full suite of advanced safety systems.

The final blow: the price

Here’s where Dacia breaks the game once again. The Bigster hybrid-G 150 4×4 starts at €30,890 in Expression trim and €32,890 in Extreme. In a market where hybrid 4×4 SUVs typically exceed €40,000, this proposal leaves even heavyweights like the Toyota RAV4 without a clear reply. If you’re looking for an SUV with real capability, efficient technology and sensible pricing, the Bigster 2026 arrives to become next year’s big outsider.
