Ram is Selling Its Own Cologne: A “Mating Call” for Brand Lovers

Ram, the truck brand, has launched its own eau de toilette called “Ram,” positioning it as more than just a fragrance. The brand actively advertises it as a mating call in a deliberately over-the-top Instagram video.

The Ram Trucks Instagram video has been called “hilarious.” The ad is so direct that it makes the Jeep Grand Wagoneer ad look subtle. It includes a brief snippet of a Ram mounting an ewe.

Despite the comedic tone, this product is real. Interested parties can purchase it on Ram’s swag website for the holidays. The eagle crying as a spray of cologne discharges into the air is likely a reference to the codename for the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine.

Olfactory Notes and Surprisingly Low Price

Ram provides a full description of the fragrance on its outfitter website. The brand asserts that it offers a “unique and energetic edge with lasting and clean freshness.” Mid-notes include “aquatic accord” and rosemary.

The bottle comes with a sculpted Ram logo. It is a 3.4-ounce bottle. Unlike the Ram 1500 itself, the Ram cologne is surprisingly cheap. The limited-edition bottle retails for $24.95 USD. The product is currently on back order, showing that people are buying it.

Ram is Not Alone in Automotive Perfumery

Ram launching a cologne is, sadly, not a novel endeavor. Several other automakers have already made forays into the eau de toilette space.

• Ford sells a trio of Mustang-branded colognes.
• Mercedes has an entire website devoted to its fragrances for men, women, and the home. They offer AMG and Maybach fragrances, in addition to base models.
• Ferrari sells a Scuderia Ferrari Red fragrance.
• Lamborghini offers a wide range of colognes.

It should be noted that not all automaker-branded colognes are legitimate. Nissan, for example, reported that certain colognes branded with individual models, such as “Nissan Patrol,” were produced without the automaker’s endorsement or involvement.
