Peugeot to Build the New 3008 in Brazil: a Hybrid and Electric SUV Set to Arrive in Argentina

By  |

Stellantis bets on South America for its most ambitious technological expansion yet, with the new Peugeot 3008 leading the way.

The French automaker has confirmed that the next-generation Peugeot 3008 will be produced at the Goiana Automotive Hub in Brazil, as part of Stellantis’ industrial plan that includes six models to be launched by 2030. According to Autos Segredos, the lion-brand SUV will be the final model in this investment cycle, marking a decisive step toward regional electrification.

A New Technological Chapter for Stellantis

This industrial strategy revolves around the STLA Medium platform, which will debut with the next-generation Jeep Compass in 2028. From there, other key models will follow, including the Fiat Toro, Ram Rampage, Jeep Renegade, Commander, and finally the Peugeot 3008, scheduled for release in 2030. Internally known as Project P64, the vehicle represents a complete evolution from the current European model, both in design and technology.

The Brazilian-built 3008 will offer 48V mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric versions, all developed on a modular platform. In the hybrid variants, the 1.3 Turbo 270 engine will strike a balance between performance and efficiency, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission designed to deliver durability under South American conditions.

Ready to Lead the Regional Electrification

The more advanced trims will feature the Bio Hybrid Plug-in system, providing all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch e-DCT transmission capable of handling up to 35.6 kgm of torque. In its 100% electric mode, the SUV will run with zero emissions, benefiting from a 400-volt architecture that enables 20 to 80% recharging in just 27 minutes. With an average consumption of under 14 kWh/100 km, it will stand among the most efficient models in its class.

Design and Future: Peugeot Polygon Concept to Set the Direction

Although the final design has yet to be revealed, Peugeot will preview the brand’s upcoming design language in November with the Polygon Concept, a prototype that will set the tone for future global models. All signs point to the new Peugeot 3008 becoming Stellantis’ first fully electric vehicle produced in Brazil, to be followed by the Jeep Compass EV, consolidating the group’s leadership in the electrification of the South American market.
