New Renault Koleos 2025: French sophistication meets hybrid power
The third-generation SUV evolves with cutting-edge technology, outstanding comfort, and a hybrid engine that rivals premium competitors.
The Renault Koleos 2025 marks a new chapter for the French brand’s flagship SUV, blending European design with Asian engineering. The model’s history has always been linked to Eastern partners: the first Koleos, launched in 2009, shared its platform with the Nissan X-Trail, thanks to the Renault-Nissan alliance. Now, times have changed — and Renault’s latest strategic move brings a new partnership with Geely, one of China’s most powerful automotive groups, co-owner of Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Smart and even Aston Martin.
A new generation born from the Renault-Geely alliance
The result of this partnership is the third-generation Koleos, built in South Korea and twinned with its Chinese counterpart, the Geely Monjaro. Despite this collaboration, the new model proudly retains its French DNA, featuring a striking front grille with diamond-pattern inserts and full LED lighting that reinforce its premium identity. Measuring 4.78 metres in length and 2.82 metres between axles, it’s notably larger than its predecessor and now boasts a 574-litre boot.
Hybrid performance and remarkable efficiency
The Koleos range offers two powertrains. The entry-level Techno version comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 235 hp and all-wheel drive. The range-topping E-Tech Hybrid Esprit Alpine, tested here, features a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (144 hp) paired with two electric motors (136 hp) and a 1.64 kWh battery pack, combining for 245 hp total output.
Performance is solid: 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds, a top speed of 179 km/h, and an impressive fuel economy of 14.4 km/l combined, reaching up to 15.4 km/l on the highway. The AI-powered Smart mode automatically adapts driving parameters for maximum efficiency, while additional modes — Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Snow — tailor the SUV to any terrain. The suspension provides a plush ride and the chassis feels sturdy, although the wide turning radius can complicate tight manoeuvres.

Technology, safety and pricing
Renault’s Human First program equips the new Koleos with 29 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring, complemented by seven airbags, ABS and ESP.
In Argentina, pricing starts at 78,352,000 pesos for the Techno version, while the E-Tech Hybrid Esprit Alpine tested here costs 86,352,000 pesos. Despite its five-seat layout, Renault positions it within the D-segment, competing against larger seven-seaters. The Koleos stands out with premium build quality, exceptional comfort, and hybrid refinement, offering a compelling alternative to luxury rivals. Warranty coverage includes 3 years or 100,000 km for the vehicle and 8 years or 150,000 km for the hybrid system — proof of Renault’s confidence in its new global SUV.
