New JAECOO 7 PHEV 2025: Goodbye 340 HP, Hello 279 HP — Affordable Power with Premium Looks
The Chinese plug-in hybrid SUV lowers its power output, improves efficiency, and keeps an excellent price-to-equipment balance to challenge its European rivals.
The JAECOO 7 2025 continues to make headlines. This Chinese SUV, clearly inspired by the Range Rover Evoque, now arrives with key updates to its plug-in hybrid version (PHEV), also referred to as the SHS (Super Hybrid System). Although it loses some horsepower compared to earlier figures, it gains in efficiency, refinement, and competitiveness against strong players like the Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Corolla Cross, Kia Sportage, and Volkswagen Tiguan.
Less Power, More Balance
The big news lies under the hood: the new JAECOO 7 PHEV 2025/2026 now delivers 279 HP, down from the previously claimed 340 HP, yet still offering solid performance and strong drivability within its class. Torque has also been reduced from 525 Nm to 365 Nm, but performance remains more than adequate, with a 0–100 km/h sprint in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. The SUV debuts a new 18.3 kWh battery pack developed by CATL, enabling up to 90 kilometers (56 miles) of pure electric range under the WLTP cycle.
The standard equipment remains one of the strongest arguments in favor of this SUV. The JAECOO 7 features 19 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), eight airbags, a 540º HD surround camera, dual-zone climate control, a 14.8-inch central touchscreen with navigation, voice control, and 19-inch alloy wheels. It also offers a driving mode selector (Normal, Eco, Sport) and a cabin with high-quality materials that reflect a premium finish and attention to detail.

In terms of pricing, the new JAECOO 7 PHEV (279 HP) is now available in Spain from €40,900, excluding discounts or government incentives. It comes with a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty, while the battery is covered for 8 years or 160,000 km. A compelling offer that blends design, technology, and efficiency at a highly competitive cost.
With this update, JAECOO redefines the concept of an affordable hybrid SUV, maintaining its bold design and extensive equipment while shifting toward a more rational and sustainable powertrain. It may have lost horsepower, but it has gained intelligence, efficiency, and maturity — the JAECOO 7 PHEV 2025 is ready to take on the segment’s established leaders.
