BYD SEAL 6 DM-i 2025: the plug-in hybrid sedan ready to challenge Europe’s best
With two body styles, over 1,500 km of total range, and outstanding quality, BYD’s new sedan sets its sights high in the European market.
At a time when SUVs dominate the market, BYD has dared to bet on the sedan format, and the result is nothing short of impressive. The new BYD SEAL 6 DM-i 2025 arrives with two body styles —Sedan and Touring— aimed at both private buyers and corporate fleets. Built on the brand’s proven PHEV (plug-in hybrid) technology, it delivers over 100 km of pure electric range and up to 1,500 km when combining petrol and electricity, placing it among the most efficient plug-in hybrids currently available.
Sharp design and record-breaking aerodynamics
The SEAL 6 DM-i follows BYD’s “OCEAN X” design language, featuring a sleek, low-slung front end, slim LED headlights, and a compact rear with double “C”-shaped taillights connected by a light bar. Its proportions are equally striking: 4.84 meters long, 1.87 meters wide, and with a drag coefficient of just 0.24, ensuring top-notch aerodynamic performance. These dimensions translate into a spacious, comfortable cabin, especially in the rear seats, where legroom rivals that of a large SUV.
A tech-focused, high-quality interior
Inside, the BYD SEAL 6 DM-i embraces minimalist sophistication, with few physical buttons and a rotating 15.6-inch central touchscreen dominating the dashboard. Materials feel premium, seats are both elegant and supportive, and the driving position is excellent. Notably, the power steering offers firm, precise feedback, far from the overly assisted feel common in similar models. Safety and comfort are reinforced by a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), ensuring a refined and secure driving experience.

High-performance hybrid technology
Under the bonnet, the SEAL 6 DM-i combines a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with 96 hp and a main electric motor producing 194 hp (145 kW) and 300 Nm of torque, powered by BYD’s renowned Blade Battery, integrated into the chassis. Depending on the version, it offers 10.08 or 19 kWh battery packs, resulting in combined outputs of 184 or 212 hp. The outcome is a powerful, efficient, and well-balanced sedan, boasting an exceptional electric range and remarkably low overall consumption.
A serious rival for European brands
With its refined handling, spacious cabin, and equipment worthy of a higher segment, the BYD SEAL 6 DM-i stands as a true alternative to Europe’s leading hybrid sedans. Its value-for-money proposition, backed by the brand’s proven reliability, makes it one of the smartest and most complete choices in its class. Ultimately, BYD has created a mature, elegant, and technologically brilliant vehicle — a clear sign that the Chinese automotive revolution is stronger than ever.
