Mazda reported lower U.S. sales in July, but the automaker celebrated record demand for the CX-90 MHEV and its strongest certified pre-owned month ever.
Mazda reported 39,180 vehicle sales in the United States during July, representing a 13% year-over-year decline. Despite the slowdown, the company celebrated several milestones, including its third-best July sales performance ever, record demand for the CX-90 MHEV, and the strongest July in its certified pre-owned (CPO) program.
Year-to-date, Mazda has delivered 241,014 vehicles, down 5.6% compared with the same period in 2025.
CX-90 Hybrid and Mazda3 Stand Out
While overall deliveries declined, several models posted strong performances.
The Mazda3 enjoyed an outstanding month with sales jumping 87.5%, reaching 3,903 units. The sedan increased 91.8%, while the hatchback climbed 77.4%.
Mazda also recorded its best July ever for the CX-90 Mild Hybrid (MHEV), highlighting growing consumer demand for electrified SUVs.
Other notable July results included:
- CX-30: +9.7%
- Mazda3: +87.5%
- CX-90 MHEV: Best July on record

Mazda achieved record July demand for the CX-90 MHEV despite lower overall sales.
SUVs Continue to Dominate Mazda’s Lineup
SUVs remained Mazda’s largest sales category, although several key models posted lower volumes.
The CX-5 remained Mazda’s best-selling vehicle with 12,068 units, despite a 22.3% decline.
The CX-50 followed closely with 11,691 deliveries. Although July sales fell 15.3%, the model remains one of Mazda’s strongest performers in 2026, posting a 26% increase year-to-date.
Meanwhile, the CX-70 and CX-90 also recorded lower monthly sales.

The CX-5 remained Mazda’s best-selling vehicle in the United States during July.
Certified Pre-Owned Sales Reach a Record
Mazda’s certified pre-owned business continued its impressive momentum.
The company sold 7,123 certified pre-owned vehicles in July, representing a 13.6% increase over the same month last year and marking the best July in the history of Mazda’s CPO program.
In Mexico, Mazda delivered 8,847 vehicles during July. While monthly sales declined 10%, year-to-date deliveries increased 2%, reaching 60,857 units.
Mazda Maintains Momentum Despite Softer Demand
Although overall U.S. sales slowed in July, Mazda continues to benefit from strong demand for the Mazda3, growing interest in hybrid SUVs like the CX-90 MHEV, and record certified pre-owned sales.
These results demonstrate that the brand remains competitive as it expands its electrified lineup while maintaining strong customer demand across multiple vehicle segments.

Mazda continues expanding its hybrid and SUV portfolio despite softer overall U.S. sales.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s Stunning Rise Shocks Mercedes
Andrea Kimi Antonelli has exceeded every expectation at Mercedes, transforming from a struggling rookie into a Formula 1 title contender in just one season.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli has become one of Formula 1’s biggest success stories. Just one year after enduring a difficult rookie campaign, the young Mercedes driver has emerged as a genuine championship contender, surpassing even the team’s highest expectations.
His remarkable transformation has surprised the Formula 1 paddock and reinforced Mercedes’ belief that it made the right decision by promoting him straight to the works team.
A Difficult Rookie Season
Twelve months ago, Antonelli was struggling to adapt to Formula 1.
The Italian experienced several difficult weekends during his debut campaign, including disappointing performances at Imola, Spa-Francorchamps and Monza. Mistakes, crashes and confidence issues led many to question whether Mercedes had promoted him too early.
Even team principal Toto Wolff, while continuing to support the youngster, admitted some performances had been disappointing.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli endured a challenging rookie season before his breakthrough in 2026.
Mercedes Never Lost Faith
Despite the criticism, Mercedes viewed the difficult first season as part of Antonelli’s development.
The team believed the experience would accelerate his learning process, allowing him to adapt to the pressure of Formula 1 while preparing for the sport’s new regulations introduced in 2026.
That patience has now been rewarded.
A Championship Contender in Record Time
Antonelli’s second Formula 1 season has exceeded every expectation.
Among his biggest achievements are:
- Youngest pole sitter in Formula 1 history.
- Second-youngest Grand Prix winner.
- Youngest driver to complete a Grand Slam.
- First driver ever to win his first four Formula 1 races.
- Five consecutive Grand Prix victories.
Those results have established Antonelli as one of Formula 1’s brightest new stars.

Antonelli has quickly become one of Formula 1’s leading championship contenders.
Outperforming George Russell
One of the biggest surprises has been Antonelli’s pace compared to teammate George Russell.
Although Russell has suffered reliability problems throughout the season, Antonelli has consistently delivered stronger performances and now leads Mercedes’ championship challenge.
Many expected the Italian to spend several seasons learning from Russell, but instead he has immediately established himself as the team’s leading driver.
Mercedes’ Long-Term Gamble Is Paying Off
Mercedes always believed Antonelli possessed championship-winning potential.
What has surprised even those inside the team is how quickly the young Italian has matured into a complete Formula 1 driver.
With a healthy championship lead heading into the summer break, Antonelli has gone from promising rookie to one of the favorites for the 2026 Formula 1 world title in less than twelve months.

Mercedes believes Andrea Kimi Antonelli has the talent to become Formula 1’s next world champion.

A Difficult 2026 Season
Aston Martin entered the new regulations with high expectations but has struggled throughout 2026.

The disappointing results have left the team well behind its original objectives.

Recent Upgrades Offer Encouragement
Although Aston Martin failed to score points in Hungary, the team introduced one of its biggest upgrade packages of the season.
Both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll reported improved performance compared to previous races.
Stroll described the latest developments as a major step forward, suggesting the team is beginning to close the gap to the midfield.
A Long-Term Project Still Taking Shape
While Aston Martin remains far from fighting for victories today, Coulthard believes the current results do not reflect the team’s future potential.
With continued development, new technical leadership, and Honda’s growing involvement, Aston Martin hopes the foundations laid during 2026 will allow the team to challenge for victories in the coming seasons.

Cadillac Praises Sergio Pérez and Bottas Despite Struggles
Cadillac says Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas are exceeding expectations, praising both veterans for helping accelerate the team’s Formula 1 development.
Cadillac has publicly backed Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas, describing both drivers as key figures in the team’s first Formula 1 season. Although the American squad continues to fight near the back of the grid, team principal Graeme Lowdon believes the experienced duo is playing a vital role in accelerating development.
Lowdon also dismissed any concerns about Pérez’s recent comments regarding the team’s progress, insisting that constructive criticism is a normal part of Formula 1.
Cadillac Sees Value in Both Drivers
Pérez recently admitted he expected Cadillac to make faster progress during its debut campaign.
Despite those remarks, Lowdon said the Mexican driver has approached the project professionally and continues to help move the team forward alongside Bottas.
According to the Cadillac boss, neither driver has placed unrealistic pressure on the team despite their extensive Formula 1 experience.

Cadillac says Sergio Pérez continues to play a key role in the team’s Formula 1 development.
Experience Is Helping Shape the Project
Cadillac believes the different backgrounds of Pérez and Bottas have become one of the team’s greatest strengths.
Before joining Cadillac:
- Valtteri Bottas remained active in Formula 1 as a Mercedes reserve driver.
- Sergio Pérez stepped away from racing during a sabbatical year before returning to the grid.
Lowdon explained that both veterans have contributed valuable feedback from different perspectives while helping engineers improve the car throughout the season.

The experience of Pérez and Bottas continues to guide Cadillac during its debut Formula 1 campaign.
Pérez Holds the Edge on Track
Performance between Cadillac’s two drivers has remained extremely close throughout 2026.
Pérez currently leads the qualifying head-to-head 6-5, while also finishing ahead of Bottas in more races whenever both drivers have reached the checkered flag.
Although reliability issues and retirements have limited their results, Cadillac believes both drivers have consistently delivered under difficult circumstances.
Cadillac Focuses on Long-Term Progress
Rather than judging the project solely by race results, Cadillac continues to prioritize long-term development.
Lowdon believes Pérez and Bottas are providing exactly the leadership expected from two experienced Formula 1 veterans, helping establish the foundations for future competitiveness as the team continues building its program.

Cadillac remains focused on long-term development as Pérez and Bottas help build the team’s future.
