2027 Toyota Crown Gets New Design and More Hybrid Power
Toyota updates the 2027 Crown with a redesigned two-tone look, a more powerful hybrid system and new standard features.
Toyota has unveiled the first official images of the refreshed 2027 Toyota Crown, introducing styling updates, a revised hybrid powertrain and additional standard equipment. The updated flagship crossover is scheduled to make its full debut in September before reaching dealerships.
The facelift focuses on refining the Crown’s appearance while improving efficiency and everyday usability.

The 2027 Toyota Crown features a redesigned two-tone exterior with a cleaner, more cohesive look.
Toyota redesigns the Crown’s controversial styling
One of the biggest changes for the 2027 Toyota Crown is its updated two-tone paint scheme.
Toyota has reversed the color layout by extending the black finish from the front through the roof while giving the rear section a body-colored appearance. The revised design creates a more balanced profile and addresses one of the most criticized elements of the outgoing model.
Additional exterior updates include:
- New Neutral Black paint replacing the previous black finish
- Piano Black lower body cladding
- Revised rear bumper with horizontal reflectors
- Standard red brake calipers on the RS trim

Toyota refined the Crown’s exterior with subtle styling changes and new premium details.
More hybrid power and additional standard features
The updated Toyota Crown is expected to adopt the brand’s fifth-generation hybrid system.
According to reports from Japan, the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter hybrid receives a stronger electric motor, increasing combined output to 236 horsepower, while improving electric-only driving capability.
The flagship Crown RS continues with the 2.4-liter turbocharged Dual Boost Hybrid powertrain, producing 344 horsepower.
Toyota also expands the list of standard equipment, adding:
- Cold Weather Package
- Paddle shifters
- Digital key on Z and RS trims
Meanwhile, the digital rearview mirror and temporary spare tire will no longer be offered.

The updated Toyota Crown gains more hybrid power and additional standard technology.

Carlos Sainz Explains Charles Leclerc’s Silverstone Revival
Carlos Sainz believes Charles Leclerc’s comeback victory at Silverstone was no surprise, highlighting one quality that has always made the Ferrari driver one of Formula 1’s toughest competitors.
Leclerc’s victory ended a difficult stretch that included costly mistakes, disappointing results, and increasing pressure after teammate Lewis Hamilton had gained the upper hand in recent races. However, according to Sainz, responding to adversity has always been part of Leclerc’s character, making his return to winning form far less surprising than many expected.

Carlos Sainz Says Leclerc Always Finds a Way Back
Reflecting on their years together at Ferrari, Sainz explained that momentum frequently shifted between them throughout the 2021–2024 seasons. Even after several races in which Sainz appeared to have the advantage, Leclerc consistently found a way to respond and return to the front.
The Williams driver described that resilience as one of Leclerc’s defining qualities, noting that his former teammate has repeatedly demonstrated an impressive ability to identify problems, make adjustments, and quickly regain his competitiveness after difficult weekends.

Silverstone Victory Ends a Difficult Stretch
Leclerc’s win at Silverstone arrived at a crucial moment in his season. Following several disappointing weekends and increased scrutiny over his performances, Ferrari needed a strong result, and Leclerc delivered with a composed drive that put both himself and the team back at the front.
Sainz praised both Leclerc and Ferrari for the turnaround, explaining that seeing his former teammate respond so strongly only reinforced what he had witnessed during their years together. For Sainz, Silverstone wasn’t an unexpected comeback—it was another example of Leclerc’s proven ability to overcome adversity and return stronger when the pressure is at its highest.

Leclerc’s performance could also provide an important confidence boost for the remainder of the season. With Ferrari continuing to develop its package and several key races still ahead, the British Grand Prix may prove to be the turning point both Leclerc and the team needed. If history is any indication, as Sainz suggested, counting Leclerc out has rarely been a wise decision.

McLaren Hungary Upgrade Could Transform 2026 Season
McLaren will introduce a major upgrade package at the Hungarian Grand Prix as the team looks to close the gap to Mercedes and Ferrari during the second half of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
McLaren is preparing one of its biggest upgrades of the 2026 Formula 1 season, with a comprehensive aerodynamic package set to debut at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The team believes the new development direction could significantly improve performance and help close the gap to Mercedes and Ferrari.
After a challenging first half of the season, McLaren has identified several weaknesses that limited the MCL40 across different circuit layouts. The new package represents the beginning of a revised technical philosophy designed to deliver more usable downforce and greater consistency.

Hungary Marks the Beginning of a New Development Direction
Before arriving in Hungary, McLaren will introduce a revised rear wing at Spa-Francorchamps, but the team’s largest improvements are reserved for Budapest.
Engineers have spent the past several months refining a new aerodynamic concept after gathering valuable data throughout the opening races of the season. Rather than making isolated updates, the Hungarian package introduces the first major step in a long-term development strategy that will continue through the remainder of 2026.
The changes are expected to improve downforce generation while making the car less sensitive to different circuit characteristics.

More Downforce Is the Main Objective
One of McLaren’s biggest priorities has been increasing aerodynamic efficiency, particularly through medium- and low-speed corners where the MCL40 has struggled compared to its main rivals.
The updated package builds upon the new front wing introduced earlier this season, which became the foundation for the team’s revised aerodynamic philosophy. Engineers expect the improvements to deliver better tire management, increased cornering performance, and greater stability in changing wind conditions.
Additional upgrades are already planned after the summer break as McLaren continues to accelerate development.

McLaren Eyes a Stronger Second Half of the Season
With development becoming increasingly important under Formula 1’s current regulations, every upgrade package can significantly impact the competitive order.
McLaren believes the McLaren Hungary Upgrade could mark the turning point of its season, providing the foundation for stronger performances during the final races while also supporting development for the future. If the package performs as expected, the team could rejoin the fight at the front and become a much stronger challenger against Mercedes and Ferrari during the remainder of the championship.
