Cadillac Recalls Every Vistiq SUV Over Third-Row Seat Safety Issue
The Cadillac Vistiq recall affects every 2026 and 2027 model after General Motors identified a potential safety issue involving the power-operated third-row seats.
General Motors has announced a Cadillac Vistiq recall covering every 2026 and 2027 Cadillac Vistiq sold in the United States. The recall affects 14,540 electric SUVs after engineers discovered that the power-folding third-row seat may fail to reverse when it encounters an obstruction, creating a potential safety risk for passengers.
Until a permanent fix is available, Cadillac has instructed dealers to disable the power-folding function on affected vehicles to reduce the possibility of injuries.
Cadillac Vistiq recall impacts more than 14,500 SUVs
The Cadillac Vistiq recall includes all vehicles produced between November 2024 and June 2026, making it the first major recall for Cadillac’s newest three-row electric SUV.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the power-operated third-row seat can stop moving after detecting an object but may fail to automatically reverse as required.
As a result, a smaller passenger could become trapped beneath the seatback, increasing the risk of injury.

The Cadillac Vistiq recall affects every 2026 and 2027 electric SUV built for the U.S. market.
Cadillac temporarily disables the power-folding seats
While engineers work on a permanent solution, Cadillac has stopped shipping certain 2027 Vistiq models and instructed dealerships to disable the automatic folding feature.
Owners who choose the temporary repair will no longer be able to fold or raise the third-row seats using the electric controls until the final software update becomes available.
Once the permanent fix is released, the system will automatically reverse the seat if it detects an obstruction during the folding process.

Cadillac will disable the third-row power seats until a permanent repair is available.
Investigation began after internal safety testing
General Motors launched the investigation after one of its engineers submitted a report through the company’s internal Speak Up For Safety (SUFS) program.
During testing, engineers discovered that the third-row seat could stop against an obstacle without returning to its original position. Although the issue differs from previous recalls involving other automakers, GM decided to issue a voluntary recall before any widespread incidents were reported.
The company says owners will receive notification once the final repair is ready.

General Motors is preparing a software update to correct the Cadillac Vistiq seat issue.
The Cadillac Vistiq recall highlights the growing importance of software and safety systems in modern electric vehicles. Although General Motors has not reported widespread injuries linked to the issue, the company chose to recall every affected SUV and suspend part of the vehicle’s functionality until a permanent solution is available.
Owners of affected 2026 and 2027 Cadillac Vistiq models should watch for official notifications from Cadillac regarding the availability of the software update. Once completed, the repair will restore the third-row power seat while improving its ability to detect and respond to potential obstructions, helping ensure safer operation for passengers.

Honda Explores Accord SUV to Replace the Crosstour
Honda is reportedly evaluating a new Accord SUV that could revive the spirit of the Crosstour while appealing to drivers seeking a more versatile alternative to traditional SUVs.
The Honda Accord SUV could become one of the automaker’s most interesting future products. According to reports, Honda is studying a raised, wagon-inspired version of the Accord designed to attract buyers who prefer a practical crossover without sacrificing the driving dynamics of a sedan.
Moreover, the proposed model would arrive as Subaru shifts the Outback toward a more conventional SUV design, potentially leaving room for a different type of utility vehicle.

Honda is reportedly evaluating a lifted Accord-inspired SUV for a future production program.
Next-Generation Hybrid Powertrain Expected
Reports indicate the future Honda Accord SUV would use Honda’s next-generation hybrid technology.
The updated powertrain is expected to feature a new direct-drive electric motor, an improved generator motor and a redesigned battery system. Additionally, production could reportedly begin around 2029, potentially at Honda’s manufacturing plant in Marysville, Ohio.
However, Honda has not officially confirmed development of the vehicle.

The proposed model could share Honda’s next-generation hybrid system with the future Accord sedan.
Honda Has Not Confirmed Production
Although reports suggest the project is under evaluation, Honda says no production decision has been made.
The automaker stated that it currently has no announced plans to build this type of vehicle. Therefore, the project remains speculative until Honda provides official confirmation.
Nevertheless, growing demand for crossover-inspired vehicles could make a modern successor to the Crosstour more appealing than the original model, which left the market after the 2015 model year.

Honda says there are currently no official plans to introduce an Accord SUV.
Honda Accord SUV Could Fill a Unique Market Niche
The Honda Accord SUV has the potential to combine the comfort of a midsize sedan with the versatility buyers increasingly expect from modern utility vehicles.
Overall, while the project remains under consideration, it highlights Honda’s willingness to explore new body styles as customer preferences continue to evolve and hybrid technology becomes a central part of the brand’s future lineup.

Moreover, the decision comes as the company prepares its Halewood manufacturing facility for the next generation of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.
A Decade of the Discovery Sport
The Land Rover Discovery Sport first arrived for the 2015 model year, replacing the LR2 in North America.
Over the years, the SUV established itself as one of the brand’s entry-level premium models, offering family-friendly practicality alongside Land Rover’s renowned off-road capability. Furthermore, the model received a significant update in 2020, introducing refreshed styling, a new four-cylinder engine and an available hybrid powertrain.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport will end production after serving as the brand’s compact luxury SUV for more than a decade.
Changing Regulations and Declining Sales
While Land Rover describes the decision as part of the vehicle’s normal product lifecycle, the timing also coincides with stricter safety regulations in Europe.
The latest requirements demand additional driver assistance and safety technologies that are not currently integrated into the Discovery Sport. Consequently, Land Rover has chosen to retire the model instead of investing in another major redesign.
Additionally, demand for the SUV has steadily declined in recent years, making it one of the brand’s slowest-selling models.

Production of the Discovery Sport will officially conclude in December 2026.
New Models Will Replace the Discovery Sport
Although the Land Rover Discovery Sport is leaving the lineup, the company is already preparing new products to expand its compact SUV portfolio.
Among the upcoming additions is the Defender Sport, a smaller off-road SUV inspired by the larger Defender. Meanwhile, Land Rover is also developing a new Range Rover GT, which is expected to deliver a more premium and performance-focused alternative.
As a result, the brand aims to strengthen its position in the luxury SUV market with a completely refreshed generation of vehicles.

Future models, including the Defender Sport, are expected to succeed the Discovery Sport in Land Rover’s lineup.
