Kia Sportage Achieves Maximum Five-Star Safety Rating from Latin NCAP

By  |

The New Car Assessment Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean, Latin NCAP, presented its final round of 2025 results.

Latin NCAP published the ninth and final round of 2025 results today. These reports show a significant reaction from the Suzuki brand. The organization also highlights Kia’s consolidation as a safety benchmark. This data arrives before a more demanding evaluation protocol starts in 2026.

Outstanding Performance of the Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage achieved five stars thanks to its recent updates. The manufacturer included six standard airbags in this model. It also incorporated rear seatbelt reminders and i-Size anchors for better safety. The vehicle demonstrated outstanding performance across all evaluated categories. Kia now has its fourth model with the highest rating in two years.

Evolution and Limitations of the Suzuki Baleno

The Indian-made Suzuki Baleno underwent two rounds of testing. The initial version with two airbags earned only one star. Consequently, Suzuki added standard side and curtain airbags. The updated model increased its final rating to two stars. The lack of autonomous braking prevented a higher score.

Alejandro Furas congratulated Kia for its change in safety policy. Furthermore, officials are calling for mandatory vehicle safety labeling. This measure would allow consumers to know the score before purchasing. Competition should focus on protection rather than just price. In this way, the region seeks to improve life standards.
