Volkswagen Taos 2026: Noteworthy Redesign, 150 CV, and 8-Speed Tiptronic Transmission

Volkswagen presents the new Taos 2026, an SUV that renews its design and boosts its technological equipment in the segment. Now manufactured in Mexico, it maintains its three versions: Comfortline, Highline, and Highline Bitono.

The new Taos distinguishes itself with a more expressive design. On the exterior, it integrates a revamped bumper along with a new grille. It also incorporates IQ Light headlights, which improve lighting and presence.

The rear section stands out with redesigned taillights. An illuminated LED light bar connects them, in addition to the illuminated Volkswagen logo. This combination creates a sophisticated visual signature. Furthermore, the model keeps the roof rails and alloy wheels as standard equipment.

Modernized Cabin and Technological Leap

The interior cabin is modern and refined. It features a new dashboard and a semi-floating infotainment screen. The vehicle retains the 150 CV, 250 Nm of torque 1.4 TSI engine. Additionally, Volkswagen pairs it with an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. This transmission change results in lower consumption and greater efficiency.

All versions offer a noticeable technological leap in connectivity. They include the new 10-inch VW Play Connect screen. This screen is wirelessly compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also debuts a ventilated wireless charging pad. Furthermore, it introduces the “Mi VWConnect” system, which offers utility applications for the user in real-time.

ADAS Safety and Superior Class Comfort

The Taos positions itself as a benchmark in safety. It comes with six standard airbags, plus electronic systems like ABS and ESC. The biggest novelty is the inclusion of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). These include Front Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). Lane Assist is also incorporated.

The Travel Assist system allows semi-autonomous driving between 20 and 150 km/h. It combines Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Lane Assist. This ensures safer and less fatiguing driving. Other important assistances include: blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and the emergency system. This latter can stop the vehicle if the driver does not respond (Emergency Assist). For comfort, all versions feature KESSY keyless access and 2-zone automatic climate control.
