The Chinese SUV surprises once again: new design, a fully revamped interior, and a powertrain lineup ready to challenge the leaders of the market.

An unexpected facelift that changes everything

The new Omoda 5 2026/2027 strikes again. Even though its SHS-H hybrid version has just arrived with 224 hp, the Eco label, and some subtle design tweaks, the Chinese manufacturer has decided to push even harder. This new facelift lands to reinforce its position against rivals such as the CUPRA Formentor, Mazda CX-30, Nissan Qashqai, Renault Arkana, Toyota C-HR, and the 2026 Volkswagen T-Roc, proving that Omoda wants to play in the big leagues–and do it boldly.

Sharper exterior and no grille: the major design revolution

One of the biggest standouts in this facelift is the exterior. The SUV introduces a much sportier and more aggressive front end, completely ditching the traditional grille–an element that had always sparked debate among users. Instead, it features redesigned air intakes, updated bumpers, and new LED headlights.
From the side, there are new, more aerodynamic alloy wheels, while the rear end showcases a redesigned tailgate, taillights with a distinctive zigzag light signature, and the removal of exhaust trim elements, following the latest industry trends.

Minimalist, tech-focused interior: an unexpected leap forward

Inside, the changes are even more surprising. Omoda abandons the dual 12.3-inch screen setup and introduces a smaller digital cluster paired with a large tablet-style central display, very much in line with premium interiors. The new grab handle, reminiscent of the Audi R8 or the first-generation Peugeot 3008, adds a sporty touch.
The cabin also features newly designed seats, an updated center console with wireless charging, refreshed upholstery–including a two-tone option–and a two-spoke steering wheel integrating the gear selector. Everything points to a cleaner, more modern, European-inspired interior.

Expanded powertrain lineup with hints of all-wheel drive

Under the hood, the Omoda 5 2026/2027 retains the 1.6 TGDI engine paired with the DCT automatic transmission, along with the new SHS-H hybrid setup. In certain markets, an all-wheel-drive 4×4 version is reportedly on the table, and the fully electric variant with the 0-emissions label isn’t going anywhere. Omoda aims to cover every corner of the European market without leaving gaps.

Competitive pricing and more announcements on the way

While we await official details on this striking facelift, the current Omoda 5 is already on sale starting at €27,900 for the 1.6 TGDI DCT and €29,400 for the hybrid version. A pricing strategy that could position the upcoming Omoda 5 2026/2027 as the market’s next surprise budget SUV.
Stay tuned–Omoda is expected to reveal more news in the coming weeks, and it seems none of it will be small.
