JAECOO 7 Hybrid: Searching for the Estimated Price of the New Chinese SUV with the ECO Label

By  |

The Chery Group is preparing the launch of the JAECOO 7 SHS-H version, a new hybrid SUV that will complete the lineup and carry the Eco label.

The JAECOO 7 SHS-H, which shows design reminiscences of the Range Rover Evoque, will complete the crossover lineup. Although it is not yet on sale, the vehicle is expected to begin commercialization in the market in a few months. The technical data of this model will be identical to those of its ‘cousin,’ the Omoda 5 SHS-H.

The combined powertrain will develop 224 hp. This system consists of a 143 hp 1.5 TGDI gasoline engine and a 204 hp electric motor. The electric motor is always the one that moves the car. On the other hand, the combustion engine’s main purpose is to generate electricity to charge the battery, although it also propels the vehicle at certain times.

Estimated Performance and Consumption Figures

Due to its more ‘boxy’ physique, the 0 to 100 km/h time of the hybrid JAECOO 7 could be slightly worse than the 7.9 seconds recorded by the Omoda 5 SHS-H. The top speed, however, should remain the same, at 175 km/h. Likewise, the homologated average consumption of 5.3 liters per 100 km of the Omoda could be a few tenths higher in the JAECOO 7.

Prediction of the Starting Price

To attempt to estimate the starting price of the JAECOO 7 SHS-H, the gasoline variant is used as a reference. Considering that the gasoline JAECOO 7 costs from 26,890 euros with financing, it is estimated that the hybrid could start at around 28,000 euros, also under this same formula. The price would rise to about 33,000 euros if paid in cash.

The Omoda 5 SHS-H costs from 23,990 euros with financed purchase and about 28,800 euros cash. Therefore, a difference of approximately 4,000 euros is predicted between the Omoda and JAECOO vehicles. Now, we must wait for the official figures from the Chinese brand and when sales will begin.
