Ford E-Transit Custom 2026: All-Wheel Drive, 370 km Range, and 25-Minute Fast Charging Boost Productivity
The company introduces a new smart All-Wheel Drive (AWD) configuration and a battery with greater capacity and faster charging speed.
Ford Pro announced significant improvements for the E-Transit Custom, its electric one-tonne van. These optimizations, available from early 2026, aim to increase the productivity and capacity of European businesses. Firstly, the company introduces a new All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. Additionally, Ford Pro implements an optimized battery to achieve greater range and faster charging. It is important to highlight that this model is offered exclusively in Europe.
New Smart All-Wheel Drive System
The new AWD system for the E-Transit Custom is fully independent. Therefore, it adds a high-power electric propulsion unit to the front axle. This system complements the existing unit on the rear axle. The system monitors grip up to 50 times per second. In this way, it precisely and individually adjusts the torque to all four wheels. Consequently, it guarantees superior traction in challenging scenarios. This includes icy roads, gravel paths, or muddy construction zones.
Record Power and Towing Capacity
Customers can choose between three power levels: 100 kW, 160 kW, or 210 kW (equivalent to about 285 hp). Thanks to the maximum power of 210 kW, the E-Transit Custom AWD can deliver 64.2 kgm of maximum torque to the wheels from zero. This figure represents more than 50 percent additional torque compared to the rear-wheel-drive version. Thus, it facilitates effortless hill starts, even with a 2,300 kg trailer. The 210 kW powertrain is exclusive to the Sport version.
Improved Battery and Ultra-Fast Charging
Ford Pro improves the E-Transit Custom battery for new vehicles manufactured from 2026 onwards. The new battery increases its capacity from 64 kWh to 71 kWh. This greater capacity translates into a range of up to 370 km on a single charge for the rear-wheel-drive version. Consequently, greater efficiency is expected on daily routes.

Regarding charging speed, a 10 to 80% charge using a 125 kW DC fast charger will take approximately 29 minutes. This means a 10-minute saving compared to the previous version. This increase allows users to gain about 111 km of range in only 10 minutes.
OTA Updates for Existing Models
In addition to hardware improvements, users of E-Transit Custom models already in circulation will also benefit. Through Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, the fast charging time from 10 to 80% for their 64 kWh batteries will be reduced to about 25 minutes. This represents a notable improvement of 14 minutes for current models.
