Buyer Sells $141K Lucid Gravity at $18,500 Loss After Just 400 Miles of EV Reality
A Brooklyn buyer has sold his luxurious Lucid Gravity Dream Edition electric SUV at a substantial financial loss after barely a month of use and only 400 miles driven.
The buyer of this luxury Lucid Gravity Dream Edition purchased it brand new in September 2025. However, he ended up selling it just 400 miles later for a huge loss. The vehicle had a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $141,550. Ultimately, the auction sale closed at only $123,000. This amounted to a painful $18,500 lesson for 400 miles of usage, calculating to $46.25 for every mile driven.
The owner, despite calling the Lucid “an awesome car,” took the huge loss due to a single factor: the difficulty in charging it. The situation was likened to buying a Hellcat and then realizing the closest gas station is 220 miles away.
Inconvenient and Inoperable Chargers
The owner’s initial plan was to charge the vehicle where he works. However, one option after another fell apart until he had to take the loss. The chargers at his work were not functioning, and there was seemingly no plan to fix them.

Not having a charger at home and being unable to install one became an “unsolvable” problem. The owner faulted his living location, New York, more than anything else. He tried to find another solution, but most convenient chargers in the city were located in paid parking garages. He had to pay “exuberant prices” to park in order to use the chargers.
It is somewhat ironic that, in a city as densely packed as New York, a high-end EV can still be this impractical. The seller, however, has not sworn off electric power entirely. He says he will be back behind the wheel of another EV “as soon as [a solution] presents itself.”
