Tank 300: Off-Road Nostalgia with Its Own Character

The Tank 300, from Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors (GWM), arrives in Argentina as an SUV that blends classic, rugged design with modern technology. Its straight lines, bold front grille, and round LED headlights evoke legends like the Defender, Mercedes G-Class, or Ford Bronco, but with its own unique personality. Measuring 4.76 meters long, featuring a boxy aesthetic and a rear-mounted spare wheel, it clearly asserts its 4×4 character while remaining attractive to urban drivers.

Interior Comfort and Perceived Quality

Inside, the Tank 300 combines leather upholstery, soft-touch plastics, and metallic details, offering a perceived quality that rivals premium brands. The front seats provide excellent support and comfort, while the cabin effectively isolates outside noise. Two integrated digital screens, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay bring modern technology to the interior, creating a high-tech experience that contrasts with its classic exterior.

Powerful but Thirsty Engine

Under the hood, the 2.0-liter turbo engine with 217 hp and 380 Nm pairs with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. It delivers smooth city driving and acoustic comfort, while reaching 0–100 km/h in 9.9 seconds on the highway. However, fuel consumption is high, averaging 12.1 l/100 km, due to its weight of over 2,500 kg and boxy, less aerodynamic body.

Outstanding Off-Road Capabilities

The Tank 300 truly shines off-road thanks to its ladder-frame chassis, rigid rear axle, 224 mm ground clearance, transfer case, differential locks, and seven terrain modes, including the Tank Turn. While its stock tires limit maximum performance, the suspension and steering provide surprisingly civilized handling for a vehicle of this size and height.

Safety, Equipment, and Unbeatable Value

With six airbags, a full ADAS suite, dual-zone climate control, Infinity audio system, 360° cameras, and heated leather seats, the Tank 300 offers premium features. Priced at $51,900 USD with a 6-year/200,000 km vehicle warranty and 10-year/1,000,000 km powertrain warranty, it competes with SUVs like the Wrangler or Bronco, but at less than half the price. China no longer asks permission: it arrives, takes a seat at the table, and asserts its presence.
