Porsche Panamera 4S E-Hybrid 2025: the hybrid that wins over the true driving geeks

By  |

Stuttgart’s sports saloon arrives with more technology, more efficiency, and a near-supernatural driving feel.

The new 2025 Porsche Panamera 4S E-Hybrid has become the engineers’ favourite toy—and it’s no coincidence. While the GTS continues to appeal straight to the heart with its V8, this plug-in hybrid targets those who crave cutting-edge technology, real-world efficiency, and performance worthy of a pure sports car. And the best part is that it manages to be more powerful than the GTS, despite using a V6 assisted by electricity.

More power, more battery, and instant response

The third-generation Panamera arrives loaded with upgrades. Compared with the previous model, Porsche has increased the battery to 21.8 kWh, clearly improving electric range over the old 17.9 kWh pack. Officially, it can cover 28 miles in EV mode, though as is typical with the brand’s hybrids, the real figure is significantly higher. Its combined setup delivers 536 hp and 553 lb-ft, enough for a 0–60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, matching the GTS. The electric motor’s immediate response transforms everyday driving and allows for surprisingly efficient use.

The best-kept secret: Porsche Active Ride

This is where the magic happens. The optional Porsche Active Ride is the technology that turns this Panamera into something truly supernatural. Thanks to an electro-hydraulic system powered by the hybrid components, the car can precisely control every movement of the body. In Normal mode, it can even counteract lateral and longitudinal forces, keeping occupants almost completely stable while braking, accelerating, or cornering. In Sport and Sport Plus, the car stays perfectly flat, regardless of pace or road imperfections. In short: a Panamera without Active Ride is excellent; with it, it’s astonishing.

Comfort, efficiency, and Porsche quality with no compromises

The interior delivers the standard you expect from Porsche: flawless ergonomics, first-class materials, and a perfectly integrated interface. When the battery is charged, the efficiency can surprise even the most sceptical drivers: the car switches between combustion and electric power with remarkable smoothness, achieving genuinely low consumption for a vehicle of this size and power. With the battery nearly empty, though, surpassing 30 mpg becomes a real challenge.

A high price—but an even better car

The only debatable point is the price: this test unit, with options, exceeds $150,000, and an identical 2026 model will rise to $161,650. Still, it’s nearly in the same territory as a GTS… and in many ways, it’s the more interesting car. The Panamera 4S E-Hybrid proves once again that Porsche remains a benchmark in engineering and dynamic performance. It’s a car for everyday use, constant enjoyment, and above all, a showcase of what the brand can achieve when it blends petrol and electricity to perfection.
