Honda Recalls More Than 1 Million CR-V And Accord Models Over Tire Repair Kit Issue
Honda has issued a major recall affecting more than one million vehicles in the United States due to a potential problem involving the tire repair kit included in several hybrid and electrified models.
According to the automaker, an incorrectly installed inflator nozzle could cause excessive pressure to build inside the tire sealant bottle during roadside repairs, creating a risk of the container bursting and potentially causing injuries.
The recall impacts popular models such as the Honda CR-V Hybrid, Honda CR-V Fuel Cell EV and Honda Accord Hybrid.

Honda’s recall affects more than one million vehicles across multiple electrified models in the United States.
Which Honda Models Are Affected?
The recall includes the following vehicles:
- 2023-2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid
- 2025-2026 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell EV
- 2023-2026 Honda Accord Hybrid
These models are equipped with a tire repair kit designed to temporarily seal punctures and reinflate tires without the need for a spare wheel.
What Is The Problem?
Honda explained that the nozzle connecting the inflator to the tire valve can be attached incorrectly during a roadside repair.
If this occurs, air may fail to flow properly into the tire and instead build pressure inside the sealant bottle.
As pressure increases, the bottle cap could suddenly detach, releasing both compressed air and tire sealant.
The automaker indicated that existing pressure-relief systems within the kit are not sufficient to prevent pressure from becoming trapped inside the container under certain circumstances.

The issue involves the tire inflator and sealant kit supplied with affected vehicles.
Reported Injuries Prompt Recall Action
According to information released by Honda, several incidents have already been reported involving the tire repair system.
In some cases, the sealant bottle reportedly burst with enough force to cause injuries. While the manufacturer did not disclose the severity of those incidents, the reports were sufficient to trigger the recall campaign.
The issue is not related to the vehicle’s powertrain, braking system or driving performance, but rather to the emergency tire repair equipment supplied with affected models.
Honda Will Replace Components Free Of Charge
To resolve the issue, Honda dealers will replace both the sealant nozzle and the tire sealant bottle with updated components.
The replacement will be carried out even if the repair kit has never been used.
As with all safety recalls, repairs will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.

Honda dealers will install updated components designed to eliminate the pressure buildup risk.
Growing Use Of Tire Repair Kits
Many modern vehicles no longer include a traditional spare tire, instead relying on compact tire repair kits to reduce weight and improve efficiency.
While these systems are generally effective for temporary roadside repairs, the latest Honda recall highlights the importance of proper design and operation of emergency equipment.
Owners of affected vehicles are encouraged to contact their local Honda dealer for additional information regarding recall eligibility and repair scheduling.

Affected owners will receive updated tire repair kit components free of charge through Honda’s recall program.
