2022 Nissan Frontier – Impressive Driving Without The Price Tag
The good news is that the 2022 Nissan Frontier finally bears Nissan’s much anticipated redesigned exterior and interior. The outgoing design was so ancient, making it pretty hard to recommend. Needless today, the 2022 Frontier shares its current frame with the outgoing design but has a few of the other underpinnings of its predecessor. That said, this time around, the vehicle feels updated and modern in every way imaginable.
We will cut to the chase and say that after spending some time with the 2022 Nissan Frontier, it delivers a driving experience unlike what’s currently available. The V6 offers a quick and smooth response, with excellent handling at highway speeds and on potholed-ridden country backroads. The quality interior, superior soundproofing, and visibility add to what is already a pleasurable experience.
In our opinion, it’s the best daily driver truck, and this review outlines why we think it can trade blows with some of the more established names.
Interior and Exterior Technology
One of the places where the Nissan shines is how much effort was put into the vehicle’s interior. It does not feel cheap or drab like some of its biggest competitors. The chunky squared-off dashboard perfectly fits the vehicle’s rugged exterior profile. While the vehicle does have a few plastics, those used are of very impressive quality, with tight-fitting.
One of the first things we noticed when sitting in the 2022 Frontier is how much more comfortable we felt than what we’ve tried in the past. The leather-wrapped steering and shifter feel good in the hand, which, when coupled with its excellent visibility via those tall windows and low sills, means you can see almost everything. This is an essential feature for us since we do a lot of back road driving, where better visibility means we can avoid colliding with the local wildlife.
The Frontier also gets an 8-inch touchscreen and a slightly larger 9-inch one on higher trims. The system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The screens are bright, highly responsive, and come with USB ports coupled with traditional buttons.
How Much Does the Frontier Measure?
Our first impression of the size was that the Frontier was small, in fact, the smallest in the midsize segment. It has the shortest overall length and wheelbase. However, the Frontier can be purchased with an extended cab, also referred to as a King Cab or a four-door crew cab. When combined with the long bed and the crew cab, features only available on the Colorado and Tacoma, it does add quite a bit of hauling capacity to the vehicle.
Final Word
The 2022 Nissan Frontier impressed us in more ways than one. The V6 delivers solid acceleration; it’s smooth and handles very well. If anything, this is the best truck you can buy that does not feel like a truck or even handle like one. If anything, this makes it a no-brainer for first-time truck buyers or those who need to tackle a few DIY tasks over the weekend but also need a daily driver.
