2020 Hyundai Sonata Limited Makes Luxury a Standard

The 2020 Hyundai Sonata offers an attractive design, coupled with some high-level features which seem out of place in an affordable mid-size sedan. The more aggressive design language and a tweaked powertrain we bet will attract many people to it. Interestingly, the appeal isn’t just skin deep, the brand-new interior invokes a reaction, which for this review is more than positive. 

While great looks and a stylish interior has its place, there are other reasons why many people may at least want to consider the 2020 Sonata Limited something we’ll go over in this review. 

Funky, Fancy and Certainly Attractive 

So, we’ll start with the most obvious reason people will want to consider the 2020 Sonata, i.e. its good looks! The Sonata will invoke emotions; for many, it will be positive because it takes a route off the proverbial beaten path of the car being boring. The past few Sonatas weren’t much to write about, but the 2020 model is like nothing else on the road. 

The design is slick, with the LED running headlights melting into the chrome strip making it appear as one piece. The shoulder line is now sharper which terminates at what we can best describe as a flashy rear end. We can’t help but think back to a time when Hyundai made sure that their Sonatas got noticed, the 2020 Sonata is pretty hard not to notice. 

Gorgeous Interior 

The 2020 Hyundai Sonata may have pulled off one of the best looking interiors in this segment for 2020. We are pretty sure that the sedate, clean lines with polished surfaces will appeal to most people. It feels like a car that should cost several thousand more and almost unfair for a budget buyer to have these features. 

The stylish cut of the vehicle’s roofline does not hinder headroom space in the rear with it being more than adequate along with perfect legroom. We were also surprised to be greeted by a spacious trunk measuring 16 cubic feet, which makes carrying a couple of bags very easy. 

Engine Performance 

It is hard not to assume that the 2020 Hyundai Sonata is going to be a beast on the road. That is why we had to take it for a ride. Our first impression was that the vehicle is reasonably quick with our 1.6-litre engine going from 0-60mph in just 7.3 seconds. 

The eight-speed auto shifts smoothly, with no hesitation. We commend the fact that the vehicle continues to offer the company’s conventional automatic transmission mainly because it is so reliable and well-honed. 

Driving the Sonata around bends, at high speeds feels a little unstable compared to the 2020 Camry. However, unless you’re going to drive it across a race track, there is no reason to turn the corner at 60mph! 

Final Verdict 

The 2020 Hyundai Sonata is no longer dull or ordinary. The styling, interior, and engine performance ensure that what many see as a budget buy goes toe to toe with more established players like the Camry and Accord. Not only does the Sonata turn heads but is exceptionally comfortable to drive, which means we give it a thumbs up for anyone who’s in the market for a family sedan!
