The Exceptionally Handsome 2020 KIA Telluride SX V6 AWD

The 2020 KIA Telluride SX V6 AWD is amongst the biggest vehicles that the company has to offer. It is about the same size as the massive Honda Pilot, with its eight-passenger capacity, and 87 cubic feet of cargo space, it’s not hard to see how well the vehicle is designed. 

Every aspect of the Telluride is well-executed, so not only does it drive like a charm but it has more than enough space for the passengers onboard. However, it is at the higher trim levels that the Telluride becomes more appealing namely the SX. If you’re in the market for a three-row crossover, the Telluride should be worth considering, as we’ll explain exactly why in this review. 

Design and Presence 

The butch, boxy appearance of the Telluride is what distinguishes it from the crowd. The large tiger nose-shaped grille and rectangular headlights give the vehicle a beast-like presence. The same fierce theme is carried through with the slim hook-shaped taillights coupled with the faux running boards across the back of the vehicle. 

The use of quality components and attention to detail continues in the cabin, which at first glance, is that of a luxury crossover. The aluminum knobs, metallic buttons and wood-grain finishes are some of the best we’ve seen in this class of vehicle and rivals those used in others costing nearly twice as much. Thankfully there isn’t much hard plastic used, and where used is mostly below the knee. 

The 10.3-inch infotainment system is vivid, with significant contrast, and appears to look like an iPad. Depending on who you are, it may be something you don’t like. Personally, we like the sleek appearance of the screen which sinks into the wood trim.

Comfort and Driving Pleasure 

Stepping inside the 2020 KIA Telluride SX V6, and you get the feeling that this isn’t the same type of crossover you’re used to driving. Turn the knob to ‘Comfort’ mode, and the vehicle drives with a plush swiftness similar to the Range Rover in the same mode. Not only is the ride creamy, but there is this feeling of a stable, excellent grip along the way, with the engine bay all but silent. 

The 291-HP, 3.9-liter, V6 coupled with the eight-speed transmission is a beast that barely even hums at 2k RPMs. However, the 262-lb/ft of torque swings into action as soon as the engine hits 5200 RPM. That’s when the Telluride can beat every other vehicle in its class and do so without making you feel uncomfortable. Not to mention that it does all of that with a decent 24mpg for highway driving. 

Final Verdict 

The 2020 KIA Telluride SX V6 AWD is a true beast. It is for those who want all the driving pleasure, comfort, and space of a Range Rover, but without the hefty price tag. There is something about the 2020 Telluride that makes us want to try every mode, and that’s what will get many people hooked on to the experience. Since the 2020 Telluride checks all the right boxes or at least most of them, we have no problem highly recommending it.
